Do not hire Econo Van Lines!!! They never showed up for my scheduled move, even after contacting them the day before to confirm. They never even followed up with me- I had to call them multiple times. They were rude on the phone and kept telling me, ‘the driver will call YOU back when he is on his way.’ My move was scheduled from 12-2pm, then was told that it was pushed back to 4-5pm, and then to 7pm… and then they never showed! What is worse, they never called me once, I had to call them each time to get an update and after 7pm, they turned their phones off on me. I had to rent a UHaul and quickly make new arrangements to move my furniture. \r \r After all that, you would think they would be apologetic, but no, I had to hunt Econo Van Lines down to get them to refund the deposit I paid. Their service was so horrible, it is border-line unbelievable! But believe it, and go with a different moving company!\r more

They overcharged, over promised, did not deliver on time and damaged some very valuable items of mine. My move was primarily antiques. I was assured that they would handle my furniture with kid clothes. I incurred nearly $2,000 worth of damage instead. \r \r I was told that they had insurance to cover the damage. THEY DO NOT. They use a 3rd party mediator that determines what, if any Econo Van lines is required to reimburse the customer.\r \r After a frustrating amount of calls and emails to John and Alex (neither would provide their last names) they finally submitted my claim.\r \r Some of my furniture was so badly damaged and not repairable as pieces were crushed beyond repair. The pieces that were repaired will never be the same.\r \r Their 3rd party mediator (not an insurance company)determined that Econo Van lines should reimburse me a measly $100 for the damage I incurred.\r \r I do not recommend Econo Van Lines unless you are hiring them to haul trash. They will make you lots of up front promises. They do not properly store, deliver on a timely fashion and they DO NOT HAVE INSURANCE. They left furniture behind and some pieces never showed up at all. When they did arrive at their destination, they were so badly damaged as to add additional costs to the move close to $2,000.\r \r Lastly, Econ Van lines is rate D with the BBB. They have not been in business for long and have had 13 complaints against them to date. more

Reading Tyaisha and Jenna's accounts, I had hoped that theirs were isolated bad experiences. Not so. This company does not operate in a transparent or an honest way and you should be very careful before trusting them with your goods or your move, especially if you are moving across states. In my case, the move was from MD to NYC and John, one of the seemingly more senior people there, repeatedly committed to me by phone to a next day delivery. We negotiated a price on that basis. After he sent me the estimate, I followed up with an email outlining the arrangement in detail, pick up on X date, delivery on Y date, estimate of Z with some room for flexibility regarding the weight, etc. Basically, everything that we had discussed over the phone that made me choose them over the dozen other companies that had contacted me to work on my move. He processed the deposit on my card after receiving this email, which no one ever responded to. I spoke with John several more times in the lead up to the move and he assured me of next day delivery each time. They came when they said they would and the driver informed that the move to NYC would likely take a couple of days. At this point I highlighted (with some degree of alarm) that this was not the arrangement and that the commitment was for next day delivery. I highlighted that (a) they had my bed, (b) my desk/dining table, and that (c) my family and I were driving up to NYC the next day to receive the delivery. I was assured that, if that was my arrangement with the dispatcher, then it should be fine, even though the papers I signed indicated no guaranteed date of delivery. Needless to say, the goods did not arrive as promised. The day of the expected delivery, John disappeared on ""vacation"" and everyone that I and my brother spoke with was rude, unhelpful, and uncommunicative about when my belongings would actually arrive. They finally did, a week later, and suffice it to say that the final cost was a 50% more than the estimate (i.e. they weren't flexible at all) and that part of my desk/dining table had been left at their headquarters in MD. Many aspects of this experience are troubling, but what is unacceptable as far as business practice is this: Had they told me before taking the deposit and picking up my property that they could not actually commit to next day delivery, and there were PLENTY of opportunities to do this, I would have planned everything differently and not exposed my family to a week long furniture-free ordeal in sweltering NYC. Instead, they strung me along until they had my goods and later my money in hand, and by then it was too late for me to make any adjustments. Moves are inherently stressful, and you want to avoid making them even more so by working with a group of dishonest and incompetent people like Econo Van Lines LLC in Rockville MD. Pay a bit more (you will anyway) and work with someone good. more

Communications were great. They managed to get the job started earlier and finished with great efficiency. I`ve used other moving companies before and this one is by far the most professional. They covered furniture well and didn`t mess up anything. It was a good experience more

The crew who did my move was great. They were on time, worked very hard and were quick and efficient. I would be very comfortable recommending them to anyone or having them move me again. They are the only movers I have ever used who I trusted - they treated my possessions as they would treat their own. They even helped me look for my keys when I misplaced them - in the trunk of my packed car!!\r more

A person answered our call, gave us thorough information. The company came on time. They had all their equipment, and prepared the larger pieces to transport. We thought they would have to remove the doors to take out a large sofa, but they knew just how to do it with no problem. Everything was transported in good condition. No scratches on walls or doorways. more

I placed a $150.00 deposit down on a move, which consisted of a 8 piece BD set plus 10 boxes to NC. Was given a do not exceed estimate of $759.30. The pickup was scheduled on 4/28/13 and the delivery was 5/2/13. Before pick up I sent $380 to pay for first half payment up front. After the Econo Van lines picked up my belongings they changed the delivery date because my load was so small they needed to transport it with another load. Afterwards I was told they needed to weigh my load because there was additional items such as a dressor and airmoire and boxes. He said I didnt state that my bed room set would consist of a dressor and airmoire, even though it was listed on their inventory in my estimate. He said they would weigh the items and charge me $.99 per pound. Econo called me back and stated I had 1800lbs worth of furniture on the truck and my new total was $1561.03. I wanted to pick up my belongs and they were going to charge me $915.00, said they worked 6 hours because they charge from the time the movers leave the office until the time they return. They had my belongs for two weeks and refused to release them. During that time I contacted the Attorney Generals office, consumer complaint, and various other agencies plus I sent a very detail email to the company with my dissatisfaction. Eventually, Econo called and said they did not want any problems and delivered my items -two weeks later, at 9pm at night-when they were suppose to arrive at 4pm. The movers were nice but they were not helpful. They were suppose to assemble my furniture but said they could not because they did not disassemble. We began to look for screws and they were missing. I immediately called my mother because the value city guys placed they screws in a ziplock bag and placed in the second drawer of my side table. So now I am unable to put my bedroom set together! This is ridiculous! THese guys are scammers. The spokeman John Atanosov was very shady. He spent most of his time talking over top of me. Beware they have shady dealings. If you work with them check your paper work, they will allow people to sign on your behalf and stick you with it. To top it off they sent me a scale ticket with the weight...and guess what??? It wasn't even my scale ticket. Beware! Beware! Beware! more

I found a new job in another ciry and I had to move my whole apartment from Rockville for a weekend. I called Rockville Econo Van Lines LLC earlier the same month and we scheduled the transportation. I had no time to call again later, but they didn`t forget. Their workers were on time on my door and were very polite and careful with my stuff. Everything went ok, so I`m happy to recommend Rockville Econo Van Lines LLC to everyone who needs fast and reliable service. more

YOU WILL BE SCAMMED. Don't trust these people. I've used movers several times and these were the most underhanded- late, took over an hour to show up to my next location 25 mins away, held my stuff hostage until I paid them for an extra hour, and the manager- John- was a child to deal with on the phone... more

Rockville Econo Van Lines LLC were professional, on time, and upfront about how much the hourly rate would be. They were fast, efficient... didn`t break anything and prorated the hour... They ended up cheaper than the ""cheap"" movers... They called me back to find out how my move went. Great customer service. I`d definitely use them again more
