Eco Coastal Cleaners

I used to go to this place when they had an actual store. Now they have a rude kid come by in a van to pick up the clothing. The kid was dressed like a derelict and I was nervous about even having someone like that come to my home. But it doesn't end there.\r \r I gave Eco Coastal Mobile Cleaners an Armani suit. When I received it back, the sleeves shrunk about 2-3 inches, the shoulders were tight and stitching of the sleeves to the body of the suit were slightly ""puckered"". The pants were fine. Eco Cleaners tried to stretch the material, which helped a bit, but not all the way. The owner Larry (a real piece of work) said he'd send it out to get ""analyzed"" at some lab in Los Angeles. The analysis came back (I don't have it in front of me) that Eco Cleaners was only ""minimally at fault."" We found out later this fabric institute place is funded by dry cleaners, so it is questionable if they are unbiased in my mind. I disputed all the charges on my credit card. This place is very $$$ and really handles garments incorrectly. Please do not bring anything of value to this cleaners, as I did. The owner became defensive and RUDE when I expressed my concern over the condition of my recently cleaned garment. My article of clothing was worn once and never washed when I brought it to them, I left with a garment that looked like it had been rubbed out with sandpaper :( the knit blazer was destroyed. The owner still charged me an arm and leg for the cleaning and basically said it was an issue with the garment. Funny I went to the high end boutique where I purchased and showed them the result of my one time cleaning. They then offered to show me what their own blazer looked like after 5 cleanings and it was still in amazing condition. So the proof is there these guys to crappy work horrible service. I've been here four times. And I have taken a good assessment of their work, friendliness and welcoming skills/sincerity. I walked in to drop off a suit. The employee was engaged in a very nice, friendly, and personal chat with a customer who was on his way out the door. I remember thinking that it was nice to see that kind of rapport between the store and customers. The chat continued for a while as I stood there waiting. I wasn't in a hurry so I didn't mind. But it was funny how the employee would glance at me a couple times (perhaps to gage my patience?) as she continued building up the chat she was cheerfully engaged in. I suppose since I wasn't the least bothered, she presumed to think that she could just continue her chatting, without even the slightest form of acknowledgement to me. Meanwhile, even the customer appeared to feel a bit awkward that she was making another customer wait this way. He inched more and more toward the door, without fueling the conversation anymore. But she just kept on fueling it. In hindsight, she may have had a special interest in that customer. When she finally wrapped up her chatting, flirting, or whatever it was, the customer left, and she turned to me. I said, ""Hi"" and she uttered a ""Hi"" also. But she didn't even try to hide her misplaced annoyance at me. In her mind, perhaps, I am to blame for cutting short her courtship opportunities. Well, I proceeded to hand over my suit. She took my information and completed the transaction with indifference. This said much about her idea of customer service. Yet, I've also been helped by another employee or owner who also expressed a similar indifferent attitude. He did offer a greeting, unlike her, but it wasn't hard to detect a lack of sincerity in his minimal friendliness. As for the quality of their work: My suit came back with a few very faint creases remaining on it. This is a new suit. Either their dry cleaning or their pressing is below good standards. I am leaning toward not taking the suit back, because I would be concerned about leaving my suit with a complaint in the hands of a business that seems to condone such poor customer service. They're a little pricey, but they are very friendly and get your stuff back to you quickly. Always professional work done and it looks great and I've had several things dry cleaned and hemmed. Pros: local, great service, eco friendly!!! Cons: a little expensive, small parking lot more

What a terrible place. I brought in a garment with a small stain and laundered it to no avail, then they charged me for drycleaning it and it still came out stained. I took it home and rubbed baking soda into the stain under a cold faucet and it came right out. Then they lost an expensive shirt and spent six weeks giving me the run-around before I stopped doing business there. I found the owners totally unresponsible and quite rude. When I moved to the neighborhood I was so excited to see an eco-conscious cleaner, but I tried them and will never go back. When I went in, the place smelled of mildew, which should have been a warning sign. I left my clothes anyway. When I went to pick them up, they weren't ready at the time they had told me, so I had to go back the next day. That alone would not have been a problem. The problem is that my blouses REEKED of mildew. Eeuuw. I hung them outside for days and they still stunk. I ended up washing one by hand several times and the smell finally came out. But the blouse has never really been the same after that. The other one not only stank, but was stretched out and I have never been able to wear it again. more
