EDIC is a rather "exclusive" clubhouse designed (I believe) for the purpose of housing primarily closed AA meetings. They do have one open meeting a month (potluck and speaker meeting) One does not have to be a $10.00/mo. member to attend AA meetings there, but the "Clubhouse" such as it is - periodically creates rules designed to eliminate the less desirable. They have periodic social events - for those who can afford them. As far as a fellowship hall goes, the fellowship is OK, provided you're one of the clique. Otherwise, if you're looking for the true fellowship and warm sense of belonging that is AA, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.
I recently learned the EDIC does not seem to respect the idea that alcoholism is a family disease. Siblings, parents, children and spouses of alcoholics are excluded from all but the monthly speaker meetings and fund raisers. Club rules are posted, but non-members are not privy to the bylaws, which seem to be flexible, depending on the current make-up of people sitting board of directors. If you're looking for friendship and fellowship to enhance your recovery efforts, this is not the place for it. Try the Alano Hall.
Pros: Good AA meetings there
Cons: Outside of AA meetings,. it seems to be a pretty exclusive club designed to eliminate undesirables.
