Recommended. I'm not very picky, and I frankly feel a little uncomfortable when people try to give me service with a smile or whatever. These guys just get straight to business, and I appreciate it. I've used Eastgate twice in the last two years. Both times my car was back to great working order by mid-afternoon. Both times they explained to me what needed done. And neither time did I feel any sort of sticker shock when they called to quote me a price. There's probably friendlier service or a better deal at other places in the triangle, but there is definitely a lot worse. I take my car to Eastgate because I know I don't have to worry about anything but my ride back to pick up a repaired car. more

I DON'T TRUST THEM any more and you should not 11/6/2011

DON'T GO HERE. I was a customer for many years but back in April 2011 I was told that I needed a new radiator for over $600. Seven months later, I have still not had to replace the radiator. Additionally, what they wanted to charge was ridiculously expense, which is the reason I did not have it done in the first place. Car repairs are expensive enough. I don't need a shop that tries to squeeze unneeded repairs out of me for excessive prices. They have lost my business and my money. more

5 STARS - OUTSTANDING!!! 9/1/2011

For the past 5 years the gentlemen at Eastgate BP have taken care of my vehicles. Their work is OUTSTANDING! \r \r Always a fair price with honest work. \r \r They never charge me more than the original estimate. \r \r The gentlemen here go ABOVE AND BEYOND everyday for their customers making sure every part of the repair/service process is understood by their customers so they are totally satisfied. \r \r I will not take my vehicle to any other care center other than Eastgate BP. 5 STARS! more

Great honest service 12/10/2010

I was towed from AAA car care center where i was told I needed $5400.00 worth of repairs on my jeep. Eastgate bp Looked over it and repaired the whole car for $435.00. The guy at the counter took the time to explain the repair and why the other work was not needed. My Jeep is running fine. Thanks for the great work. more

Never go there 10/31/2010

They are the worst possible. I took my car to have the brakes changes and all of the sudden my calipers had exploded and they wanted to charge me $600 for something that was probably their mistake. and then when I told them not a chance I want my car back they charged me $37.50 just for looking at the car. They were very rude and I would never recommend them to anyone. more

Avoid at all cost 9/22/2010

I live not far from Eastgate Plaza and was forced to use their services on several occasions. Each time the experience was most unsatisfying. Contrary to several raving reviews of questionable credibility, posted here, the Eastgate BP folks will try to squeeze as much as possible from you, especially if you are stranded and incapable of driving away. Here are brief details of the most recent encounter. My car stalled due to a dead fuel pump and was towed to Eastgate. The estimate that they gave me the next day exceeded the dealership's quote by 50%!!! ($600 vs. $400). Just to give you a taste of BP surcharges: (1) A new fuel pump: $70 on eBay; $198 at the dealership; $238 at Eastgate BP; (2) the sending unit for fuel gauge: $50 at the dealership, $98 at BP. Please keep in mind that the dealership prices are not cheap to begin with, but they at least guarantee the OEM parts. Eastgate BP quote also included several miscellaneous parts in the $20-30 dollar range, that the dealership immediately deemed unnecessary. At the end of the day, it was much cheaper to pay for their ""diagnostic"" and another tow to have the car serviced at the dealership. Here's another nice touch: the BP mechanic left a large screwdriver to the left of the engine block, forced down the hood, and just walked away. When I noticed the deformed, misaligned hood, the BP guy's non-apologetic response was something like; ""Ah, it happens...."". That's the level of professionalism and customer appreciation that you are likely to encounter at Eastgate. more

WOW!!! 4/23/2009

Ram's Eastgate Bp is great! I am a college student, on a budget like the rest of us. Another local shop gave me a estimate of repairs that ""needed to be done"" 1700.00. Eastgate bp evaluated my vehicle and the repairs... The cost to make ""needed"" repairs were under 200.00. I know why they have been around so long! Thanks guys. Pros: Incredible mechanics... great service and staff, great hours Cons: small waiting room more

to much negativity 12/1/2008

I believe the FEW who complained just wanted the service they got from EASTGATE for nothing........ They are very honest, caring and have a very good name in Chapel Hill.......... I would recommend them over all the others. Pros: they have the best service station and tow truck operators Cons: don't see any more

Outrageous charge 10/18/2008

My car stopped running and I called a tow truck, which towed me to Eastgate BP. After they looked at my car, they called and said I had run out of gas. (my gas gage is broken and always shows empty). When I went to pick it up, they had put in $12 of gas, which was fine, but also charged $37.50 for looking at it. I conplained that that seemed unreasonable, and they ""explained"" that it was because they had to put a pressure gage on the fuel tank to see if it was out of gas, which they said is the first thing they try when a car turns over but doesn't start. Aside from the fact that how long does it take to put a pressure gage on a car, if they had looked at the gas gage they would have seen that it was on empty, since I hadn't told them that it was broken. Since that is the first thing they thought when it came in, it seems like terrible judgement, as well as showing how unfair their charges are in general, how could you trust them? I wouldn't! Pros: Over priced, not observant, unresponsive to my complaint. Cons: own tow truck. more

Good Service, Competative Prices, Friendly Feel 7/21/2008

I cant say enough good things about Eastgate BP. All of my experiences with the service station and tow truck drivers have been more that just satisfactory. Everyone is always very friendly and goes above and beyond to ensure that I not only understand everything but that I am comfortable with the process. The atmosphere at the service station has a family feel and whenever you walk in the door people remember your name. The tow truck drivers are all very curtious and are helpful in any situation. I highly recommend Eastgate BP!!! Pros: knowledgeable staff, friendly service, competative prices Cons: n/a more

ABOVE AND BEYOND!! 7/21/2008

My car died on the highway at 2am. I called Eastgate Towing to come get me. The whole time I was a little worried about how I would get home. My wife was sleeping with our new baby, and we are new to the area... When the driver got there he had us all loaded up and headed to his shop in a few quick minutes. I asked him if he knew the number to a cab service but the cool thing was he laughed and said, "" Sir, no need for a cab, I can run you home..."" That may not seem like much to some, but he had to leave home from somewhere to come get me at 2am. As it turns out, my car was pretty bad off, but they got me going the next day. Like I said we are new to the area, but Eastgate has our support. Great job Eastgate!! Pros: Family like atmosphere more

This is the most dishonest garage around, never go there 7/19/2008

I couldn't agree more with the negative review. My Blazer was having trouble starting in wet weather. One day it just would not start, so I had it towed to Eastgate since they were a AAA approved garage. Two days later I get a call from them saying that the problem was with the spider port fuel injector and that the engine was spewing fuel. Their quote for the repair was $1200 (which is about $400 more then this repair should ever cost). It didn't sound right to me since these were completely different problems then when I had originally brought them the car. I asked if I could see the problem. They declined saying it would hurt the engine. I asked them why the car was having such different problems now. They told me the first symptoms must have been a coincidence. I had a bad feeling about it all so that night I got the car started and drove it home. It was running really rough and the service engine soon light was flashing so I popped the hood to find out why it sounded so different. Underneath the engine block I found the spark plug someone at Eastgate had taken out to make it sound like the problem was with the fuel injector. DO NOT go to these guys, they will try every trick to rip you off. Pros: None, these guys are crooks Cons: Everything, coming from a family of mechanics I have never heard of a more deceitful garage. more

Dont go for service 1/23/2008

Should be a zero star. Ford Explorers like most/all SUVs have an inertia fuel shut off switch which flips down and off if your SUV rolls. In my case, a fast turn in combination with the switch being placed by the right foot of the passenger, who is bracing themselves, accidentally flipped it up. It flips up to shut off when your car isn?t on its roof. I couldn?t figure out why my car just died mid-turn. It only had 40,000 miles on it. I had it toed to Eastgate BP. $500+ later I have a new fuel pump in my car. I never would have known that I was ripped off but 6months later the same thing happened, fast turn, scared passenger bracing themselves. I died. The car sounded like it wanted to turn over but wouldn?t, just like last time. Again I had it toed to Eastgate BP and sure enough the verdict came in with a phone call, I need a new fuel pump. This time I told them, you guys just replaced it. ""oh'' they said. About 10 minutes later I got a phone call, ""you can come get your car"". They explained what happened with the switch but said the first time is was the fuel pump. BS. Find a different shop Cons: everything more

The best 11/5/2005

It is always unfortunate when your vehicle breaks down. Eastgate BP and their employees came to my rescue. They picked me up on the side of the road and towed me back to their shop. They were very busy that day as i imagine most days. However one of their mechanics stayed late on a Friday to complete the work on my car. It is great to have a full service gas station that you can always count on 24-7. My only warning if you are not a UNC fan Watch out!!! Thanks eastgate BP Go Tarheels! Pros: Great service, Friendly, great staff Cons: n/a, n/a, n/a more
