Editorial review from Citysearch 9/28/2012

I will NEVER step foot in this establishment again. I will forewarn you that this will be a long review.\r \r I recently moved here from Orlando, Florida. While being there, I owned and operated a small bully breed rescue that was focused mainly on sick, injured, or death row dogs. One if the illnesses we encountered multiple times was Canine Parvovirus, a horrible and disgusting virus.\r All of the treaments were done at my home, with the permission and supplies provided by our vet.\r \r At one point, we had puppy that was on her last breath as we carried her into our vets office. We were immediately put into a sterile room where a Parvo SNAP test was done. It confirmed our worst nightmare was true. Our vet recommended that we hospitalize her but even then he said that she probably wouldnt make it. All I could think about was that we hadn't lost one yet and she wasnt going to be the first!\r \r Against our Vets' recommendation, we got our supplies and took her home to start treatment. Every hour she got Sub-cue fluids, medications upon medications, and I was constantly disinfecting her isolation area. She is still alive today because of determination and because I absolutely refuse to let a dog die as long as I am around.\r \r Now that you are aware of some back story, this is why I am writing this review....\r \r Today, we got two more pups in from the same litter. Last night, we confirmed Parvo with one pup but we are still unsure of her sister.\r \r My wife, who has gone to East Suburban Animal Hospital in the past, recommended that we take them there for tests and to get what supplies are needed to treat them.\r \r When I originally spoke to them on the phone, they didn't seem to know much about what I was talking about when it came to Parvo treatment (Aren't they supposed to be the vet??). My mother is the one who took them to the vet to be seen, where they treated her like a leper. Everyone scurried to the back like a bunch of roaches with a flashlight on them once Parvo was mentioned.\r \r Not only did they refuse treatment of the pup with Parvo, but they wouldnt even test the other pup for it, which takes about 5 minutes once the test is room temperature.\r \r At this point, I was livid. Not only was my mother treated with utter disrespect at an extreme level, but they absolutely refused to do anything for the puppies.\r \r My wife called Grace Animal Hospital and told them about our situation, the woman on the phone was in shock about the actions of East Suburban Animal Hospital just like the rest of us. She told us to get the puppies there IMMEDIATELY to be seen. After driving an hour to ESAH, the puppies were taken to Grace Animal Hospital where they are being seen right now.\r \r I understand that you need appointments for visits, but I have NEVER been turned away from ANY vet in any state that I have lived in when it was a life or death situation. These ""Veterinarians"", ""Vet Techs"", and ""Receptionists"" if you could even call them that, are extremely cold, unprofessional, and ignorant. I can honestly say that I will NEVER return to this establishment for any reason and I wish all the luck in the world to the animals that are taken there. If they treat people like that, imagine how your animals are being treated if they are left to stay there. more

Dr. Caslow saved my Sammy's life.\r \r \r Although fifteen year old Sammy (feline)'s sarcoma was \r aggressive and invasive, and was fully expected to recur, \r Dr. Caslow and Sammy are certified CANCER KILLERS. Over a year after surgery, that he nearly died from, Sammy has the ALL CLEAR.\r \r They worked with me regarding costs and payment, and respected that I was paying as agreed. more

BEST VETS EVER 11/25/2011

We have been happy with the services of ESAH since 1992- and trust me- I am one neurotic pet owner. They compassionatly saw us throught the entire life/death of one of our dogs- and we are quite satisified with the surgeries, check ups, and follow up care that our present 2 dogs have received. We schedule our check ups with Dr Miller-but have seen all of the docs in the practice ( through the years ) through the years and always felt we ( and our dogs ) were in competent care. I highly recommend this group. more

Compassionate and Relatively Inexpensive 3/16/2011

I have to disagree with the above post. Our puppy has been seen there for the past 8 months by various vets within their practice. When they diagnosed his condition and realized he was in need of immediate care that they could not provide they never mentioned payment. They sent us to AVETS to start treatment immediately and simply mailed us a bill for the balance of that evenings visit. \r They have been compassionate and warm to all of us throughout our treatments for our pup. I am in tears almost everytime we are in there and I feel they care almost as much as I do for our little guy. \r They have been extremely helpful with advice and I have to say in comparison to the other hospitals we have used, they are very reasonably priced. \r more

HORRIBLE!!! Don't care about animals, should be a vet for farm animals. 2/15/2009

I remember taking my pets to this office about 15 years ago and getting a ""bad vibe"". However, I moved out of State and just moved back after 13 years. I had a pet who was in the process of dying and in serious pain. When I took the animal in, to have him put to sleep I sensed again a cold feeling in the office. No compassion. Moreover, when we went back to the room where the proceedure was to occur, they insisted I pay them right then, asking me to write the check on the cold steel table my dying pet was laying on. When the Vet came in and I expressed my concern over this ""Payment Practice"", he simply shrugged his shoulders and suggested I could take my pet to another vet. He was very condescending and insensitive. Well, taking my Pet to another vet is EXACTLY WHAT I DID!!! I found a compasionate Vet at the Companion Animal Clinic on 286 and would never set foot in East Suburban Animal Hospital again. It's my resolute opinion that they could care less about Pets, but care only about YOUR MONEY. Pros: Conveniently Located Cons: Cold, Uncaring, Lack of Empathy more
