A sincere letter of appreciation 10/26/2011

I am writing this to inform readers just how awesome this school has been and was to our daughter. Our daughter no longer attends DRP ONLY because of relocation of the family. That said, the staff of DRP made my daughter (who attended for a little under a year) feel welcomed everyday and was attentive to her needs. This, while attending to all the other children, is amazing in itself. My daughter's teachers and caregivers were topnotch, friendly, and always able to discuss what our daughter accomplished during the day. Our daughter became enamored with several teachers and staff as well as made friends with some of the other children.\r On our daughter's last day at DRP, some of our daughter's past and present teachers as well as the people that run the school presented her with a handmade card and present. My wife and I were floored. We knew why we chose this school and will sorely miss the compassion, expertise, and thoughtfulness that we experienced on a daily basis.\r Thank you for your generousness.\r \r I also want to point out that we valued the safety of the facility, how effortless it was to reach anyone at the school, and the learning procedures that helped our daughter expand her vocabulary and grow.\r Thank you for taking care of our daughter.\r \r Thank you, and we hope you continue your awesome ways for an awesome school! more

A school with safety and child development everyday 7/4/2011

The staff is a very warm for both the children and parents to feel comfortable. They are doing a great job. All the children are happy and have huge smiles on their faces when they walk into the building. I learned a couple of interesting things about this school they know every children and parent by name. When it comes to complaints they handle them very seriously and try to resolve them the best way they can. Great school with great people taking care of your most precious gifts. more

Honest Review 6/8/2011

Here is a little help for those people who really want an honest review from an honest parent.\r \r I had my daughter at DRP. The teachers there are always working their bottoms off to get the child in that school to the highest level they can be but also make it fun for them by doing cooking activities, charting and graphing activities they even start introducing the children into writing their names when they turn 3, which is amazing! My daughter can write her name at 3 and they usually dont start that until they are almost 4!\r \r The staff is a very warm bunch of women who try their hardest to make it eaiser for both the children and parents to feel comfortable and feel at home. In my opinion they do a great job of this. Each class has 1-2 strong teachers who are going to school or have their degrees! \r \r When you walk into the building all the children are happy and have huge smilies on their faces. If all the bad stuff was going on that these so called reviews were saying why are all the kids so happy and seem so peaceful?\r \r Another big plus for me was they have a key enter system only so not just anyone can enter the building. \r \r Jasmin and Jerri are both loving people who have children of their own and try their hardest to make sure each child is taken care of as if it were their own. They know every parent by name and their children as well. Both of them treat you like family and when it comes to complaints they handle them very seriously and try to resolve them the best way they can.\r \r I give this school 2 thumbs up! Not every center is perfect but this center is one of the top schools in the Triangle, in my opinion! When I have another child this is where I will take my child no doubt in my mind! It was a blessing to encountor these women and are like family to my daughter and me. more

durant preschool 11/9/2010

Before any parent enrolls at Durant Road Preschool, please check the Div. of Child Development for the confirmed violation of the center. A child in the preschool classroom was left unattended while the children were having their Halloween parade. It is a poor quality child care facility. Please parents do your homework. more

And honest review from a real parent 8/6/2009

As a father of a child who attends Durant Rd. Preschool, I wanted to say something in its defense regarding the last two ‘reviews’ posted on this website. First of all, regarding the school: The State of North Carolina has rated this a five-star center for a reason, that being that it is possibly the best center in the Triangle area, not to mention one of the most coast effective. The two directors, Jerri Theer and Jasmin Gaumer, run an open door policy regarding parent check-ups and visitation because there is nothing to hide at Durant Road. I would encourage you to stop by any time, and so would they. Why? Because you will see children receiving constant instruction and interaction with their teachers and others. This is a school, not just a daycare. I am highly selective about my son’s welfare, and I trust the instructors at Durant Road with his safety, well-being, and development everyday, and without hesitation.\r \r Some prospective parents out there may read the last two reviews on this website and think, “I wonder.” Don’t. Come to Durant Road yourself. Talk to Jerri and Jasmin. I have. And I learned a couple of interesting things. The incidents described in these accounts are FICTIONAL. They were not written by “potential parents,” but by disgruntled ex-employees who were unfit for the job and got canned. Notice that these are not reviews of the school, but personal attacks on the administration. Why would a mother who stopped by a school once know so many personal details? Why would an “almost parent” make such personal, vitriolic attacks on Jerri and Jasmin? They wouldn’t. If they didn’t like the school, they would list a few reasons why and move on. Or more likely, they wouldn’t have had to write a negative review, because the vast majority of parents who tour Durant Road Preschool sign their children up immediately. \r \r Jerri and Jasmin have too much class to respond to such despicable, and yes, lame and pathetic attempt to disparage the school. Personal attacks disguised as a review on City Search? Really? That’s all you have to do with your spare time? Very, very low. Fortunately, not to low for me to stoop right down there with you: Whoever wrote the last two reviews are so simple-minded that they assume a discerning parent can’t tell the difference between an honest review and the half-illiterate rantings of a fat drunk. You know who you are, and really, if you are going to post libel (get a dictionary and look the word up since I doubt you know what it means) on the web, at least do so in something approaching standard English sentence structure. \r \r Pros: The administration, facilities, and staff Cons: dishonest reviews from ex-employees posing as parents more

Take it from me, 8/1/2009

I was ""ALMOST"" a parent from durant road but the day i went out with my infant to do a tour, NEITHER director was there. That put up all types of warning signs in my head i mean what if something serious was to happen that one of the teachers couldnt control i mean who's next in charge? The kids! So i was given a tour by some girl named Beth and once she opened the door to the infant room we took our shoes off for sanitation reasons, which i dont know what for because the floor was disguisting. The teacher in they're had the kids sitting in bouncers and some were on they're stomachs on the floor just screaming they're little heads off with runny noses and licking the floor. I was in awe, especially once i looked at the lead teacher in there that was covered in red sores that seemed to be ozzing all over her body! ""IM THINKING STD"" but how would i know, i heard they never get tested for anything! Some parents i talked to said they had some complaints with her but never pushed the issue because they were told the Head Director never EVER resolves anything and just pushes everything to the back of her list. I also heard jerri and jasmin are so scared by the mistreated kids parents that they hide under they're desk just so they dont have to approach them! I heard that they dont go by the kids age once it's time to transition to the next class, they go by which kids they like! All these thing was told to me in the ""infamous DRP parking lot"" by another parent who's child was about to be removed. She even told me that one of the teachers out there was caught putting her foot on the childs back to make him go to sleep. By the childs mom who is a parent/teacher out there, who later cried her eyes out in disbelief! WOW and guess what? Jerri knows! She's just to busy taking her personal problems out on the staff and trying to make everyone feel as bad about theme selves as she does. And jasmin is busy wondering, if she's not still pregnant, WHY DOES IT LOOK LIKE IT! more

HEARTBROKEN! 8/1/2009

Hi WEB! Im a very understanding parent but i DO NOT play when it Comes to my GIRLS! Unfortunately i recently encountered a major disapointment! My daughter was enrolled in DRP not to long ago, at first everything was Great! I enjoyed her lead teacher, she welcomed me and my child with open arms, she was caring, enteractive with the kids, she treated them all as if they were hers! But all of a sudden she was gone and once i asked what happend i was blown off! And thats when everything went down hill. A few days later i came to pick her up and she was outside on the playground soaked in urine, i wondered why when she had numerous pairs of changing clothes, not only that but she's potty trained very well! So when i questioned the teacher that was once a co-teacher and now lead, she just looked at me as if she was puzzled??? Which left me puzzled! I also had another bad experience with the ""Co"" director Jasmin who took it upon herself to call my childs ""contact"" instead of myself (the mother). Once again when i questioned i got no answer in return. So i took it amongst myself to remove her from the ficility, & get a load of this, i was told that the ""Directors that you guys think are so ""Great"" talked about me and responded with a simple ""She cried to much anyway"" followed by laughs! So the next day i came in to obtain my daughters belongings, Neither director spoke or took out the time to look up from there desk! Professional you say, parents be carefull because youre not theyre every minute, so how would you know that everything is so ""Goody-Goody""? You wouldnt because the front that the directors uphold is just that, ""A FRONT""! Cons: Jerri && Jasmin! more

Stop the attacking 3/8/2009

I just wanted to say I am a mother of two and currently have one child still attending Durant Road Preschool. In all the years my children have been there I have been beyond happy and so have my children. That is not to say that I havn't had my disagreements with things from time to time but give me a break who can please over a hundred children plus parents everyday. Also, when problems did come up I always have felt welcome to talk to everyone. I believe the directors and staff are all great people and whoever finds the need to bash them on a web site should be ashamed. If you have a problem tell them, don't be childish and use a public website to shame their name and place of employment. How would you feel if your name was being bashed on the internet. As for all the sickness comments I know first hand for a child to come back into that school they have to have a doctor's note, I have lost my cool a few time for having to get one. Also, whoever thinks the Jerri and Jasimen talk behind people's back, I don't believe it and even if they did how many of you can go all day at work without gossiping or talking about someone else, I beat not that many of you. So why can't all of you stop being so childish and use this website for what it is intended for and not for bashing people as if you are still in High school. GROW-UP!!! These people are taking care of your most precious gifts and do a great job at it. Pros: great school with great people more

ALL LIES 2/28/2009

To who ever wrote that completely FALSE review, I believe it is sad that you have to make up complete lies! The Directors at DRP do not in any way shape or forum show favoritism. They treat everyone the same. Also, I would like address the allegations about the ?R.S.V, HAND FOOT AND MOUTH AND OTHER DESEASES AND GERMS,? there recently has been children that have had these cases of sicknesses BUT have been to the doctor and been treated. They have returned with a doctor?s note and are/have been on medication for 24 hrs. or more! The people who have been writing these reviews are either ex-employees who have left on bad terms or people with issues! My child goes there and I would trust these people with my daughters life!! Pros: EVERYTHING! Cons: NOTHING more

This is the place to look..... 2/28/2009

I can't say enough good things about this school. My child has been attending this school since they were 6 weeks old. I always feel at ease in the mornings when I drop my child off. I know if there is ever a issue concerning my child the teachers along with Jerri & Jasmin will always contact me asap to keep him along with the other children safe and healthy. I am also very happy to say when my husband or I come to pick our child up he is always engaged in some sort of activity that he is enjoying (sometimes he doesnt want to leave because he's having so much fun)! I will always recommend Durant Rd Preschool to friends of ours. Keep up the great work!!! more

DRP IS GREAT! 2/27/2009

Once again, to everyone who has read those negative reviews about DRP, PLEASE WHATEVER YOU DO PUT THOSE REVIEWS OUT OF MIND! My child has been going there since she was 6 weeks and I have never had a problem with her teachers OR the directors. From the moment you walk into the building you are welcomed by all the staff and especially the directors! I have to say out of everyone at that center, the directors are the most amazing people I have ever met! Very friendly, happy-go-lucky women i have ever met! The teachers are the most warm hearted people and actually take the time to get to know you and your child. My daughter has gotten so attached to her teachers that she is their little shadow where ever they go! I trust her teachers in and out without any hesitations! When my friends ask where to find a great child care center I Immediately tell them about DRP. I have nothing but good things to say about them! I would recommend any and everyone to go look for yourself! DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT let the negative reviews effect your decision of DRP! Pros: Location, Staff, DIRECTORS FOR SURE Cons: NONE, EXCEPT -- not enough openings for new children more

A Message from the Directors at Durant Road Preschool 2/23/2009

It has been brought to our attention that a negative review has been posted about Durant Road Preschool. We would like to respond to this review and encourage anyone with questions about our program to please contact us. We would like to assure all of the parents of children who are currently enrolled at Durant Road Preschool that we follow all rules and regulations set forth by the North Carolina Division of Child Development. This includes conducting local and federal criminal background checks (including the required collection of fingerprint cards) on all employees: full time, part time, and substitute staff. You can also review our compliance history and file at the Division of Child Development website.\r \r Thank you. more

High quality care, great staff and administration at a good price 2/23/2009

I would like to thank all of the staff and administration at Durant Road Preschool for providing us continous, reliable and loving care to our children. From the infant room to the preschool classrooms, we have had a wonderful early childhood experience while living in Raleigh. We recommend all of our friends who are in need of care to visit your school - the only complaint is...you NEVER have openings! Bad for parents who are looking for care, but good for you! That just shows how GREAT you all are!\r Thanks for everything!\r Beth and John Pros: The staff - all are personable, loving and caring to ALL children Cons: None...but if I had to list one - it would be that they do not have an afterschool program more

A thank you to the staff and administration for providing the best care a parent could ever ask for! :) 1/19/2009

We are no longer a family at Durant Road Preschool (due to a recent lay off) and we unfortunately had to withdraw our child from their program. Although this was the only preschool my son has been in, I cannot imagine any better school. The school is truly a five star program - from the first day my son attended, to his last day, we never had a second thought to the kind of care he was receiving. Not only were the teachers in his classroom outstanding, all of the other staff were of the same. It seemed that everyone knew our little Josh - -and that is a WONDERFUL feeling for a parent to have! If we were to need child care again, there is no question where we would go -- right back to Durant Road Preschool!\r Thank you to everyone there! Pros: location of school, individual attention to children, extra activities more

WONDERFUL preschool! 1/16/2009

I highly recommend Durant Road Preschool to any prospective parents looking for a well-rounded preschool for their child(ren). Durant Road has wonderful directors, they have a very well educated and loving staff who will take the time to get to know your child one-on-one. Every teacher, and I mean EVERY teacher, excels in their classroom, their warmth and presence they give you right away as soon as you walk into their classroom makes it easy to drop off your child without feeling bad because you know that you just dropped off your child in great, caring hands. These teachers have 100% patience with all their students, and their wonderful and caring demeanor makes them wonderful caregivers and teachers. I HIGHLY recommend this school, Durant Road Preschool rocks! Pros: wonderful, loving, caring, responsible and loyal staff more

Cannot Agree More! 1/16/2009

I just received an email from one of my close friends about a recent review of Durant Road Preschool. I have two children who received excellent care from the teachers at Durant Road. We always had very positive relationships with the staff and feel that our children were well prepared for kindergarten. I never questioned the decisions made by the administration with regards to hiring the most educated and competent teachers and had complete trust in the school throughout our years there. If my husband and I were to have another child, we would not hesitate to entrust them with the staff at Durant Road. I have to agree with my friend that this is an A++++ school! more

A ++++ preschool ! 1/16/2009

We have had three children attend Durant Road Preschool since they opened - we have had THE best childcare experience while at this school! As a Wake County school teacher, I think the teachers are highly educated, enthusiastic, and very loving towards all children in their care. I am always recommending D.R.P. to anyone looking for childcare! My two oldest children who are in public school were more than prepared for kindergarten...my youngest child who is still attending the preschool is in a wonderful classroom with the best teachers! A++++ school! Pros: Great communication between parents and staff, loving staff, great directors! Cons: none !!! more

Wonderful Staff Who Truly Love Children 1/16/2009

As a past employee who not only returned to this fine school but also enrolled her toddler, I must say that this is an amazing preschool! The staff are loving to the children and provide a very developmentally appropriate environment for the children to grow and learn. After reading the most current review, I wanted to give current and prospective parents piece of mind in knowing that these statements are inaccurate. The administration follows all rules and regulations pertaining to background checks as required by the North Carolina Division of Child Development. I would encourage you to check out their website to see a more accurate evaluation of our program. Pros: Highly Educated Staff more
