Love it here 1/20/2012

Wow the former Jim's Tavern has come along way from it's humble shady strip club past. Since the change over to Dublin's. I've been here a total of four times. Two of them I don't quite remember all that much, due to a large consumption of alcohol. So over the next two times I went it was to sample the food. They do there best to recreate the atmosphere of a traditional Irish pub, and become pretty close. It is well themed with Irish artifacts and such. You sit at plain wood tables with plain wooden seats. Not all that comfy if your sitting there for awhile. The staff is really nice and friendly. Even if we do stay along time and talk. I usually go out on Tuesday nights for this reason. Most places don't mind if you take up that table to talk on a non busy Tuesday night. Each time I'm there I tried to sample different things. When I first went I tried the Rasher and Cheese Boxty, which is a traditional Irish dish. Basically its Irish bacon and alot of cheese inside what can best described as a crepe. It tasted phenomenal and is a fat kids dream. If you have a weak heart I don't suggest it. Basically this thing might as well come with a free trip to the hospital card. For the impending heart attack that is coming after wards. My associate Wall had another Boxty named Whiskey Chicken. As the name applies its chicken breast that is sauteed with garlic, mushrooms and fresh Thyme. This is put into the same crepe like shell, with a whiskey cream sauce. Wally had this before and like it alot. He did ask for no mushrooms, but when the order came out it had mushrooms with it. A simple kitchen error, and the nice waitress apologized and brought back a new one with out mushrooms. Besides that our experience was great. So since we had a great first experience we decided to go back again. Upon entering we were greeted by the hostess. She told us that there was a meet and greet with the NJ devils in the up stair part of the restaurant . We did find it ironic that every TV had the Philadelphia Flyers game on while they were there. Even though it did sound fun. We preferred to talk a bit so we decided to stay downstairs. We sat down and ordered our drinks. For food we decided to split a order of 12 wings, 6 were BBQ and 6 were honey mustard. The honey mustard wings tasted good but were a little on the bland side. The BBQ on the other hand were great. They had a perfect blend of spice and sweetness. It sucked alot that we only got six. For dinner this time around I went with their version of the ""build your own burger"" Its your basic half pound burger with a variety of toppings to choose from. Each topping does range in price. I love this concept but there is one flaw. If the burger taste bad its our own doing. You picked the toppings and remember. Just because things taste good by themselves doesn't mean they taste good on burgers. I feel victim to that before and its not fun. Today I played it safe and went with cheddar cheese, bacon, onion straws, and mushrooms. The burger came out great. I added on there house brand of mustard and steak sauce. And perfection was made. Wally on the other hand ordered the stuffed chicken, which was stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella, and spinach. Plus it comes with sides of mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. He wasn't impressed with the chicken itself due to dryness, but really like the asparagus. After going by twice to we can defiantly say with out any doubt that Dublin Square is Fat kid tested Fat kid Approved. As always stay peckish my friends. more
