Over a decade ago I began having dental problems which, over a two-year period, caused me to have to have three of my four wisdom teeth extracted. But then I contracted a severe periodontal infection. In a relatively short time, not only did I lose my remaining wisdom tooth, but also the tooth immediately in front of it. The bacteria were spreading rapidly and required highly specialized care. Fortunately for me, my regular dentist was familiar with the range of periodontal care in the greater NY area and recommended Dr. Eric Linden as being among the best. He recommended that I see him quickly, since the problem was now threatening at least a quarter to a half of my remaining teeth. Dr. Linden had the knowledge and expertise to stop the spread of the infection and completely repair the damage over the next few months. He has now been caring for my teeth and gums for more than a dozen years. Even though his office is over an hour from my home, I’m happy to drive the distance to get the best care available. At first, like anyone being referred to a Periodontist, I was nervous. Let’s face it – who really welcomes the idea of having to consider gum surgery? But, literally – as soon as I walked in his office about 14 years ago – Dr. Linden’s genuinely calming, professional, and personable demeanor put me at ease. Both he and his Assistant, Patti are so friendly, that I honestly look forward to my regular visits! Due to my particular issues, I have had to have multiple procedures over a number of years. But, each and every time, Dr. Linden fully explains to me what the issue is, why I should consider having the procedure sooner versus later, what the procedure entails, etc. If for some reason, a patient might choose not to move ahead with a procedure (or choose to ‘put it off’ for an extended period of time), Dr. Linden will explain what impact that decision would likely have on the patient’s dental/periodontal (and overall) health going forward. He is aware that a patient needs time to consider his/her options, and is also willing to answer any question or concern you have. And, over the years, Dr. Linden has continuously been on the forefront of innovations in periodontal care, so that his patients have the most updated treatment and equipment available to us. In a day and age where sometimes a patient can ‘feel like a number’ – that is NOT the case here! Both Dr. Linden and Patti follow up with you, proactively, to see how you are doing post-procedure. have been seeing Dr. Linden for over 15 years for my periodontal condition, and I wouldn't even think of using another periodontist. He has consistently demonstrated the utmost professionalism, taking the time to explain my condition and procedures for treatment and making sure I was comfortable with the recommendation. Most impressively, Dr. Linden takes great pride and dedication in his profession, keeping up on the latest developments in technology and treatments, attending seminars and giving lectures to share his knowledge with his colleagues. Dr. Linden is an exceptionally dedicated dental professional. I was a nervous patient with bad gums when I was first referred to Dr Linden 18 years ago. I am now a patient who has fallen asleep in his chair while having work done - I trust Dr Linden and his assistant, Patti, that much. I have had surgery on almost every area of my gums and have 4 dental implants. The only pain I experienced before Dr. Linden started using laser surgery was mild discomfort and annoying stitches. The LASER SURGERY IS AMAZING! I have to make a point to remember I had surgery when I leave his office. I don't feel even mild discomfort, and need NO stitches. My gums are prone to periodontal problems, but my gums are healthy thanks to Dr Linden and regular appointments for periodontal cleaning. more
