I found Doug Justus Auto Ctr on ebay. After several emails and phone conversations with salesperson Brandon, I flew into Knoxville. Bought a BMW Z4. The car was exactly as advertised, not perfect a few outside dings and a few scratches inside. I took there word that the car was as listed, flew 4 hours in and drove the car 12 hrs home to Rochester, NY. Doug gets his cars at auctions, and prices them for what there worth. If you buy a car for several thousand below what other dealers want check it out and see what it needs don't be an idiot. I've recommended Doug to several of my friends but nobody wants to drive that far. P.S. Doug open a center in NY more

I purchased an 01 Volkswagen. Although I had to have some mechanical work done to it, for the price I paid, I was well worth it. It has been a great vehicle for me and my family. more

We purchased all of our kids cars from Doug Justus. They have lots of clean affordable cars. Thanks again and we will be back to get us a Subaru soon. more

Best car buying experience ever. No pressure at all. Very good choice of vehicles. I highly recommend. Love my Jeep Commander. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/31/2013

I am a lifetime mechanic and have only found junk at Doug Justus. They sold my friend an 02 sentra a few years ago that had internal engine damage (slight tick from a broken rocker arm) and obvious collision repair (entire passenger side was a repaint) with a clear history report and charged him a premium price. Within a week, check engine light was on and it was stalling out at every red light. I bought a 97 4runner last year from my boss, without thoroughly inspecting it myself( my own fault) not knowing he purchased it from Doug Justus. It needed, new rack and pinion, alternator, radiator, rear brakes, and a complete tuneup. My boss had already replaced the leaking valve covers, front brakes and timing belt. Granted they are cheaper than most other places, don't buy here unless you plan on spending $1000 to fix your car afterward. more

I bought a 2006 Subaru Outback Wagon. It was exactly what I wanted: Sunroof, Leather interior, and Manual transmission. The service was great and there was never any pressure to purchase. I drove 4-1/2 hours to Knoxville spent about 30 minutes checking out the car and 4-1/2 hours back. Since I purchased the vehicle out of state the front office was very responsive sending me the title and information I needed to register the vehicle in my state. I absolutely love the vehicle and would do it all again. more

Outstanding Experience 6/27/2011

I looked at Subaru Outbacks. The price for a new one is well in the 20s. Even an Outback that is 5 years old was in the low teens which was out of my budget. After looking around, I purchased an Outback from 6,999. Sure, it has some bumps and scratches, but hey, for that price - who cares? The vehicle lasted until nearly 300,000 miles. At which points it was given to charity. These are used cars. I like the fact that no one pressured me. If a little dirty and grim is going to scare you away, then go and pay thousands more at a big dealership. We bought two cars from Doug and they were exactly what we needed for the price. more

I just got back from visiting Doug Justus' auto center on Alcoa Hwy after business hours, and I left with some serious concern re: the company's ethics. Here's why: Two of Subarus had the car keys hanging from the door key slot. No one was there. I literally could have gotten in and cranked the cars. Besides that, an SUV was parked on the curb with its lights on. No doubt it will be dead tomorrow. I tried calling their office, but was unable to leave a msg (which I guess doesn't reflect bad business ethics, just saying I tried). I don't know what that says to you, but it was enough to keep me from considering going there to buy my next car! more

Disappointed 5/25/2011

I read the reviews on this site and looked at cars online. I even called ahead to find out exactly how the process worked at Doug Justus... I also BROUGHT CASH and wanted to leave with a car. There were 5 cars on my list for $2,995 (I'm going to be a grad student and need something cheap for 2 years). Problem was, I got a ride all the way out to the dealer and spoke to Doug first thing. He said, all we have for 3000 are cars with no A/C (ads don't say that!!) or bad hail damage. At least he was honest... the cars I wanted to see didn't have working A/C! Such a waste of time. Pros: the facility is nice, people are nice. more

POINTLESS DRIVE TO ALCOA 4/14/2011

Well, im writing a review only because im a little disappointed in what the cars actually looked like on their lot... after seeing their pictures and the cars are nice an detailed, i got to doug justus only to find all of the vehicles looked dirty, bird poop was on all of them, and most of them had mostly dents, holes, and scratches (granted their used so they arent suppose to look ""perfect"") but if your trying to sell cars the least you could do clean em up a little bit and mot importantly check the oil stick and transmission fluid. my father and i were looking at a hyundai sonata and it had a dry oil stick, and no transmission fluid, it was a disappointment. we drove a malibu and the steering wheel was making a pop every time you turn it. needless to say we went somewhere else for a car. more

Very Happy 2/13/2011

I found an SUV on their website that I really wanted to look at. I went there on a Sunday when they were closed and looked around, went back the next day to talk to them. I talked to Jess and drove that vehicle. I really didn’t like it after I drove it but I’d seen an Explorer online that I also wanted to see. It was at their other lot so Jess went and got it for me and I drove it. I really liked it so we decided to try and buy it. It looked good. It had some scratches and dings but it’s a used car, what do you expect? It was a 2002 Explorer with about 205,000 miles. The whole buying process took about 30 minutes, they fixed the electric mirror switch (fuse was bad) and I was on my way. No hassle, no fuss, no stress. I found a car I liked and I bought it…AS IS. I knew it was AS IS, they said it was AS IS, and they didn’t try to make me believe that it was a brand new car. It’s been two weeks now and I drive about 35 miles one way to work each day. No problems at all. I’ll probably need some new tires soon but that’s no big deal. The car runs great, looks great, everything works (everything is electric: seats, mirrors, 4wd, heated seats, windows..it all works). I’d go back to them and I’d recommend that you do too. more

This place is a scam!!! Beware before buying here! 12/4/2010

As soon as we left Knoxville with our Expedition that was bought in June, the transmission light came on and with in 2 days the check engine light was on. Unfortunately, since June- we have replaced the transmission, AC compressor, and now the front and back brakes. \r \r When speaking with Brandon at Doug Justus, he said that my father signed ""as is"" and what did he expect when he bought an older car with high mileage. I would hope that Doug Justus would not sell a car with a bad transmission, AC compressor and bad brakes. It appears that the lights had been tripped long enough to sell it for over $5000. By the way, this Expedition was at the front of the lot by the road. Brandon acted like it was a piece of junk in the back and sounded surprised that we didn't know we would have to be paying over $3000 fix it. Horrible customer service. No compassion... nothing!! During this time, my father had a massive heart attack and was in critical condition. After telling Brandon that my dad was in the hospital, the response I got was ""oh, that sucks!"" Thanks for your honesty and compassion. \r \r My father trusted that Doug Justus' mechanics had gone through the car and was in great shape, which is what he was told. Do not buy a car from these crooks! more

Great Place to purchase cheap used car in Knoxville 6/27/2010

We drove over 100 miles to there dealership. They have a great website that includes free history reports. The most difficult part was deciding what to buy. They have alot of cars. Never any pressure. They just let us choose our vehicle and never really tried to sale us anything. Thanks Brandon Pros: Lots of cars Cons: No onsite financing more

HAPPY CUSTOMER 6/26/2010

WE JUST PURCHASED OUR SUV AND THEY HAD THE BEST PRICES THAT WE FOUND. VERY LAID BACK SALES TEAM. WILL RECOMMEND THANKS Pros: EASY TO SHOP HERE Cons: NO FINANCING more

2002 Toyota Check Engine Light Next Day 6/8/2010

I bought a used Toyota. Next day check engine light on. Toyota dealer said it needed over 2000 in repairs. Dealer also said the computer was tripped to get light to go off prior to purchase. Who knows? Anyway, oil leak as well so another several hundred in repairs. Front tires were bad too, I had only checked rear tires. If you buy a used car get a mechanic of your own to check it first. This business told me they had a mechanic check their cars, but if he did, it must have been to notice a computer needed to be reset so a customer wouldn't see a check engine light. Buy cars from a reliable business. Pros: Everyone Real Nice While You Buy Cons: Car no good more

Doug Justice - an Honorable Business man 5/13/2010

Mr Justice helped me when I was down and he didn't have too. I was unemployed, a single parent to a 5 yr old, and with financial obligations to my child. My engine had just blown on my truck and I didn't have any money to fix or replace the vehicle, I was STUCK. I sent out an email to 4 major local dealerships and Doug Justice Auto seeking help with my vehicle situation. Mr Justice was the ONLY one that responded. Thanks to Mr. Justice he was able to sell my broken truck at auction and hand me a check for the money he received at auction. Mr Justice didn't have to respond to my email let alone take the opportunity to have my truck picked up at my house (his expense), sell my vehicle at auction and hand me a check for what he received at auction. I was fortunate to buy a vehicle from a private seller, the money I received wasn't much but I wasn't expecting anything from a p/u with a blown motor. So, to all you nay-sayers, check out Doug Justice Auto. He is a man with a Heart and of his word. Next time you read a negative review about Doug Justice Auto, ask yourself this, how many customers has he services through all these years and how many complaints do you see. Numbers don't lie. Mr Justice, from my daughter and I, Thank You! for being there when no one else cared (like the Major Dealerships in the area who only care about the almight dollar), \r \r . Pros: a man with integrity and honesty more

A LEMON 2/26/2010

Okay so you spend your hard earned money on a car that won't run properly within the first week of buying it. There is not a darn thing you can do about it but try and get if fixed continually until as we have experienced it just sits there while your child doesn't have her first car to drive anymore. I can guarantee their children have decent running and safe cars to drive. After a year and a half of trying to fix it we have given up. WE are not well off people like the car dealers so we have no more money to put into a lemon to get it fixed. Do not take the chance of buying your car here. Go somewhere else! I don't care what their personal review/reply says. They know what they are selling and they know if it is a lemon or not. Especially in our case when you are offering them cash! The salesman said he drove it every day to go get lunch and didn't have any problems with it . There is no way that it all of a sudden started messing up after my 17 year old daughter got the car. This car had problems and they knew it but they were greedy and wanted the cash. End of Story. Pros: there are no pros in this situation Cons: we were conned into buying a lemon more

Doug Justus Auto Center 9/27/2009

This is a response from Doug Justus Auto Center to a couple reviews posted on this site. We have sold 1,000 of vehicles and have a large base of repeat customers. We believe car buying should be simple and without sales pressure. Our website has 25 detailed pictures of each vehicle, price, free history report and detailed information about the car. First only one of the negative reviews even purchased a vehicle from us and the other was a 15 year old $2500 vehicle in 2006. The two customers that wrote ""defective vehicles"" and "" Buy at your own risk"" forgot to state in their reviews that they wanted to purchase the vehicles that they referenced in there review. Both wanted a price that was below what we had in the vehicles and when we could not agree on price so I guess they felt the need to post a complaint. We do sale our vehicles AS IS but we also spend $1,000's each year helping our customers after the sale. We try very hard to be fair and make our customers happy but just like in every business this is impossible with some customers.(usually not even buyers). We have began an aggressive campaign to have all of our customers post to these review sites. more

Review of Doug Justus 9/25/2009

We spent the past week shopping around the knoxville area car dealership and ended up buying here. They were friendly and very helpful. They really never tried to push any vehicles on us. We were recommended by a friend who purchases all there vehicle from this dealership. We love our Audi and will also recommend this lot. Pros: Lots of clean cars Cons: No financing available at dealership more
