We were tired of eating at the same old places in town, and decided to drive out to Athena to try the Doubletree, which came under new management this past August. For starters, the cafe and the lounge are separated so that you can take your family for dinner, or go to the lounge for a drink and some relaxation. The cafe is a cozy little place with a western decor, which we enjoyed. I went with my dad and my two children, and everybody loved what they got. I had the chicken fried steak, which was the size of an aircraft carrier, so I had no chance of finishing that in one sitting. Plus, my dinner came with a side of bread and a vegetable, as well as mashed potatoes, so I was stuffed. I had it with the brown gravy, which was very good, but plan to try it with white gravy next time, just for tradition's sake. My daughter had the kid's chicken nuggets, and my son had the kid's burger. They both wolfed down their kids meals, but also loved my clam chowder that came with my dinner.
