Great Atmosphere!!! 9/9/2010

Came into town to visit with family and friends... Had a great time here! They had ""Comedy Nite"" that evening... pretty funny! The drinks were reasonably priced and strong... I would recommend this place for group fun (especially for people 21 and over on weekends). The food selection was excellent... they had an appetizer called ""Dragon Bites"" WOW!!! LOVED EM! We will be back for sure, and we'll be sure to bring others!!! more

The best party ever -- and you can bowl too! 9/3/2010

It's the best invention ever. They combine the best elements of going out -- drinking, good music, cool people, and BOWLING! I've even seen a DJ from Q101 there on the weekends too! The most unique thing on the bar menu? JELLO SHOTS! In multiple flavors no less, and for just $2 a pop. The food here is far above bar food quality, and they offer lots of healthy options. The grass fed Angus burger is a fave of mine. Overall, the place draws a really fun crowd. A little more family-oriented on the weekends, but that doesn't mean the music gets any softer. Punks, hipsters, frat boys - you'll see all types here, bowling in harmony. There are a lot of leagues during the week, so call ahead to check. But there are never leagues on the weekends when it's all open bowling. I'm not sure what ""Bellshell"" was writing about below - they were probably too drunk to know what business they stumbled into. Or they did something really stupid that got them kicked out, like any quality establishment would do in order to preserve order. I've been coming to the Rock 'n Bowl for years, and have never seen anything even remotely close to what he is talking about. more

Worst Bowling Alley Every 8/23/2009

Diversey Bowl has to be one of the worst bowling alleys in all of Chicago land. Most of staff thinks that they are all high-and-mighty; I have met some of them that are nice and polite. The owners are the worst. I only been there a few times, but each time, it never fails that the owners are yelling at a customer for no reason. One time by mistake a bunch of us went in, during a league night (not knowing) and got yelled at for it, since they had no lanes opened, and how stupid we were for showing up. I even talked to people (at the bar) that have bowled there for years, and they complain about the management. Never have been to a place that was poorly ran like Diversey Bowl. Pros: Some of the staff in nice Cons: You either will see or get yelled at by management more

Pin Blastin 12/14/2007

Let me tell you this... it does not have Ten Pin Lounge decor, but who gives a sh*t. You are putting on clown shoes and looking to blast some pins. The staff was accomodating and the drinks were strong. We ordered up some greasy appetizers and played a few games and it was $20 a person for a night out to bowl. Drinks are priced moderately and we drank a ton of em. Good time... relaxed place and I was serving up Turkeys all night. more

Rock'n n' bowlin' 9/13/2002

Diversy Bowl is by far the best in the city. All the people are great and the atmoshpere is as good as a bowling alley can get. more

A film was made and presented August 26th at the century theater of Monday nights at the Rock and Bowl. It was a part of the Chicago film festival. Great Movie.....Great Rock and Bowl Pros: Great Music, Great Light Show, Fun Staff more

We need Rock, Soul and Bowl! 8/27/2002

The ONLY game in town on the near-North side! All the others (ok, Waveland) are too packed-out and expensive. The music could be a little more diverse, though--as in, urban. more

butt bowl?! 8/27/2002

lanes were so oily i fell right on my a#$! nonetheless, diversey does rock...good greasy grub, cheesy 80's music, having your picture come up on the monitor when it's your turn, friendly staff..and that obnoxious sign out front..you might think you're in vegas! can get a bit expensive for a saturday afternoon if you spend them there like i do swillin and throwin a few games, but that's chicago for ya.. more

What a trip! 5/19/2002

We were in our fourth frame of the first game, when suddenly the lights went out and the bowling pins began to glow with a light blue haze. Dance lights came on and scanned across the lanes. Welcome to rock and bowl. This place has a full bar with various taps and plenty of room for sitting after you play. The lanes are very sleek, with stools, rather than the typical plastic seats. The display screen is high-tech and has cool stats, like the speed of your last roll. Before you get a lane, you have to put a coin in a machine and put your names in and indicate whether or not you need shoes. Lanes are paid by the hour ($20), not the game. It's a slightly steep price, but well worth it for the quality of the lanes. more
