Beautiful! 4/13/2006

If you are new to Phoenix, and are looking to do some learning and have some fun, check out the Gardens. They have every kind of cactus and tree and flower that you can possibly imagine. There are educational displays and many learning opportunities. If you are around in November-December, do not miss the Luminarias. The Garden is decorated with lights and festive decorations, for nighttime enjoyment. In addition to the beauty of walking through at night, you also get serenaded by a variety of musicians. This was the most fun I have had in a long while. more

Desert Botanical Gardens are flowering NOW! 3/29/2006

This is a wonderful place for locals, as well as out-of-town visitors. Go now to see the wild-flower area in nearly full bloom. more

Experience the AZ desert! 10/20/2005

Very nice place! My friend brought me here a couple of days ago together with my wife and were just astounded by the beauty of the desert. The trail we took was simply marvelous - lots of desert flowers & plants, butterflies, rabbits, superb scenery. We were also able to view the Monarch Butterfly Exhibit and it was pretty neat to learn something new. more

Go when the flowers are in bloom 9/1/2005

My husband and I went on a tour of these gardens in the fall. Most of the flowers weren't in bloom at the time so I'm not sure we got the full experience. The trails are nice and are worth a visit to enjoy a little bit of desert beauty. They have a nice cafe outside that you can sit at and feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. more

Beautiful 8/20/2005

The Desert Botanical Gardens is a very neat place to walk around. You'll learn all about desert plants and wildlife. They also have exhibits on desert life and how people survived in the desert. All of the plants that they have are really cool to see, even if they aren't flowering at that time of year. You'll probably see ground squirrels, lizards and quail wandering around as well. It's definitely worth the trip and it's fairly inexpensive! more

beautiful and informative 8/20/2005

First of all, a warning, if you can make it here at anytime other than during summer...I advise you to do so. It can get awfully hot here! That said, this is a great way to spend the day. Informative and beautiful for both the native Arizona resident or someone just visiting. It is a place to bring the whole family, but I really think it most enjoyable for adults, as kids may get a bid bored and restless. more

Very interesting if you like to learn 8/20/2005

If you are a kid...it can be somewhat tedious to walk around and see very little if any wildlife. Plants of various uses and types are here, and their history and uses can be found out through the tour of the garden. Not my favorite attraction, but I was with an impatient 2-year-old at the time. Definitely would have been better to go shortly after the rains instead of in the heat of summer, but, I couldn't control that. more

Beautiful Gardens 8/15/2005

The Desert Botanical Gardens is the best place around to enjoy the variety of beauty the Sonoran desert offers. They have acres of native plants, all beautifully and informatively displayed. There are demonstrations of native life on the weekends and kids will enjoy learning how to make flour with a pestle and seeing how people have lived in the desert for thousands of years. It is hot and dusty during the summer, so try to go during the cooler months. The admission is a little expensive, so go early and plan to spend the day. There is plenty to see. more

something a little different 8/4/2005

What an enjoyable day out at the Desert Botanical Gardens is. It is somewhere to go with the kids to teach them about our native palnts. It is also nice for when you have company come in from out of town. They have many different events through-out the year; such as music, pumpkin festival, workshops and classes. You can go on bird watching tours or do wine tasting. more

Beautiful Garden in the middle of the desert 7/29/2005

I was very surprised when I first came to the Desert Botanical Gardens because I wasn't expecting the variety and beauty of the desert! I grew up in the Northwest so the desert was an adjustment. But this garden offers beautiful scenery and beautiful views over the valley. My husband actually proposed to me here and the staff was very helpful in helping him arrange that and letting us in free and everything for that. Definitely worth a visit! more
