Bummed by a last minute hard sale! 8/24/2010

I was looking for a good deal and worked with several nice salesmen. I found three dirt bikes for myself and my kids, at a good, but NOT a great price. I was actually very excited by the fact that the salesmen weren’t heavy handed and there was SOME room for negotiation. Then came the finance department (cashier) and the extended warranty push. Despite three NOs! I was tag teamed by a second finance person who explained he has known several customers who whished they had purchased the extended warranty prior to their motorcycle imploding shortly after leaving their showroom. Then they broke out a binder with service record for some idiot who rode his bike without oil. Surprise his engine seized and the service cost was over 1k. GREAT displeasure is an understatement, as I couldn’t get these warranty-pushers to give up. This 10-minute ordeal undermined my confidence in their inventory. (Dealer prep-AKA mechanic inspection, etc was between $400-$700 you'd think that would provide some level of quality) Watch the slight-of-hand pricing by the finance/cashier person. BTW when I got home the “new” Yamaha 50’s throttle was assembled incorrectly and got stuck. (I fixed it without a warranty.) And my 250's battery was unable to start the motor. (Again fixed without the extended warranty) Admittedly, this was something of an impulse buy. I should have walked away, and I am unlikely to purchase any future toys without checking out other dealers. Be informed, expect dealer prices and watch your back. Three years ago I bought two street bikes from Bert’s. That was a better experience due to the lack of heavy-handed sales tactics. The good guys in sales: Bob (I didn’t get the last name) and Justin Muldrow. Very nice apparel salesperson: Michelle (Her card doesn't have a last name) Michelle was great getting my kids setup with helmets, gloves, etc... more

These Reviews Are Fake 2/16/2010

These reviews are all fake or at least the four and five star ones. I used to work there and management told us to log on and put in positive reviews so we can try and create a buzz to bring in customers. This place is a joke and a the reviews speak for themselves. Marshmellow, one of the reviewers is Marsha in thier parts and apparel department. Pros: Nothing worth Mentioning Cons: Management Starting At the TOP more

It's a dealership - what do you expect? 10/3/2009

Many of the reviews posted here are obvious fakes, I assume by the employees of Del Amo. This is a fairly typical motorcycle dealership with high prices and slick sales staff. I do visit them because they have a great selection of parts, apparel, and Ducatis that are fun to look at. Pros: Good Selection Cons: Commission-driven staff more

Greatest Bike shop in Cali!!! 11/13/2008

I recently went into Del Amo Motorsports for a few gifts for my boyfriend. He rides and I don't know much about the product. As i walked in, i was welcomed by nothing but smiles and positive individuals. A gentleman asked me how was my day and if i needed any assistance finding anything. I said i was in search of some street gear for my boyfriend. He then walked me (like a gentleman) to the apparel dept. There i was helped by a handful of employees, all which had great personalities and smiles on their faces. I must say... i walked out of there confident in my purchase and needless to say, my boyfriend loved EVERYTHING!! When i was in there, they didn't have in stock a pair of gloves that i was hoping to buy, however, a few days later, i got a phone call from one of the ladies saying that they had received some similar and if i wanted them to hold a pair for me. Now that shows that they were not only trying to help me with my purchase, but they also took the time to pay attention to what i was interested in the first place. The service was GREAT and i have recommended a few of my friends to go there for their future purchases! THANK YOU DEL AMO! Keep up the Good work! Pros: there is not enough space here for all the good things about this place. Cons: there are none! more

Friendly staff 10/30/2008

I must say the customer service at Del Amo Motorsports was GREAT!!! I was recently looking into buying a new motorcycle when a friend told me about Del Amo Motorsports. I had been calling all over the place trying to find a dealership with bike i was looking for. I called Del Amo and (Casey) the sales guy answered, he was very up beat and friendly. I had called about fifteen other dealerships and none of them were as helpful and as friendly as Casey at Del Amo. He treated me as if i were one of his close friend. After getting off the phone i felt as if we had been friends for along time. What a great place to go to. They make you feel as if your family!!! I will recommend everyone to Del Amo Motorsports. What a GREAT place!!! Pros: Friendly Staff more

Surprising and fufilling experience!!! 10/27/2008

I like many others, I?ve read a lot of dissatisfied testimony online about Del Amo Motorsports, however I was looking for a specific motorcycle and had deposits EVERYWHERE for the bike, I was looking for a KTM 300XCW, probably one of the hardest motorcycles to find in California, I was a bit worried to be honest when Del Amo was the first dealer to get one in their inventory. Since there seems to be such bitter reviews online, however I also know that people tend to vent bad experiences WAY before anybody says anything good, so I gave them a chance. I told them what I was looking to spend, and what I needed with it. Bill at Del Amo (the salesperson I spoke to) is a KTM rider himself and he could relate to my dilemma. He told me what I was going to be up against, and made me feel as if I had a personal representative at the shop. We set an appointment, and I came in. I was expecting some negotiation, and there was some, but I worked out a price that fit my budget. Bill introduced me to Julie in the apparel department but she didn?t have everything I was looking for, but she got the boots ordered. It took about two weeks, but I got them and they were the right ones! :-) I also met Roy in the parts department and bought a skid plate, which was actually in stock. I even got a discount! When I met the finance people they were courteous and informative, I bought a year warranty because this bike has only a 30 day warranty, and it was done! The bike was mine after MONTHS of waiting for it. The service department was INCREDIBLY tidy and clean, Del Amo obviously spends a lot of money and energy in there because the service area is actually cleaner than my own house! Colin, Pat, and Fernando are great people to work with (I had a lot of questions) lol . When my walkthrough was finished, Bill and Colin helped me load the bike into the truck. I?ve already referred two of my friends to Del Amo and Bill. Glad to see a big shop with such personalized service! Pros: Staff were friendly and helpful! I was right at home here! Cons: Didn't have everything I was looking for, but I got the parts ordered. more

Best Customer Service in a motorcycle shop 10/16/2008

Wow why would you buy your bike anywhere else! I just got my new R6 and everyone there was very nice and the whole deal only took a little time. Not like buying a car. Can't wait to tell all my friends. If you ride you must go. Thanks to everyone at Del Amo Motorsports. Pros: Cheap Prices Cons: motorcycles are very addicting more

Worst dealership in Southern California! 8/11/2008

Do not go to Del Amo!! They are hands down the worst dealership in Southern California!! I have been to every dealership within a 60 mile radius and I can tell you from experience it is worth your money to take the drive somewhere else. I ride with a lot of guys and they all have had major issues with Del Amo. -The sales department is incompetent and will tell you anything you need to hear so they can get a sale. They know nothing of the services they are selling. The $5,000 coverage plan they sell you along with Lojack, is not worth it! Just get full coverage. You sometimes can get a slightly cheaper deal, but it is not worth it!! Trust me!! -The parts department is horrible!! Whatever time frame they tell you tack on a few days or months! They say they will call you when your part is in, but never do. -The service department is the worst i have ever seen!! Myself and numerous other riders have brought their bikes in for routine services and when we picked up our bikes, found that there were bolts etc. that were missing!! Every single time i had my bike serviced i found parts missing (5 times). Then it takes two weeks for them to replace the parts they lost! If you have to bring your bike in because you already purchased the extended service package like me, then PLEASE look over your bike before you do any serious riding. If after all this you still are going to buy a bike from Del Amo, then all I can say to you is I am sorry and there are many others that share your pain! If you still won't take my word for it, then look up Del Amo Motorsports on the B B B website and see for yourself. They got an F!! The worst possible rating a business can get!! P.S. the owner of Del Amo also owns Long Beach Motorsports, so be careful! Pros: None Cons: Just do yourself HUGE favor and go to one of the many other dealerships! more
