This practice was started in 1964 by two brothers, William B. Hofmann, MD & R. Josef Hofmann, MD. Their father William P. Hofmann, MD was an Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat doctor in Davenport until 1960. Dr. William B. Hofmann retired in 1999. Dr. R. Josef Hofmann retired May 1, 2007
Dr. Siv Brit Saetre, in addition to doing general ophthalmology, has a Fellowship in Glaucoma. She joined the practice in 1993 after attending University of Oklahoma, University of Oklahoma Medical School and University of Michigan Medical School for her glaucoma fellowship.
Dr. Ashok R. Penmatcha, a Quad City native, joined the practice in 1997. Dr. Penmatcha studied at the University of Illinois for his undergraduate degree and received his medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago.
Dr. Amanda L Bailey, a mid-west native, graduated from The Ohio State University and received her Optometric Degree from University of Missouri School of Optometry. She joined the practice in 2008.

What is an Ophthalmologist - He or she has obtained an undergraduate degree plus 4 years of medical school followed by 3 to 4 years of specialized training in surgical and medical diseases of the eye.
What is an Optometrist \u2013 He or she has obtained an undergraduate degree followed by optometry school. Optometrists are specifically educated, clinically trained and state licensed to examine, diagnose and treat eyes for vision problems, diseases, injuries and ocular manifestations of systemic diseases
