My stylist of 20 years (Tom at #6 rated Sima's in Canton) was out for a back surgery and I needed a cut and lighlight for a vacation a week away. I saw this salon on this website and it was referred by a neighbor as it is about 5 minutes from where we live. I was kind of curious about someone new as perhaps I was missing something great? Not. Great cuts and the colorists are better than anyone I've tried closer. Everyone their is congenial and there are no ""celebrity"" attitudes. I always leave happy, relaxed and ready to drive back to Baltimore city. more

My hair is stick straight and prone to show off ""choppy"" haircuts. I've now seen a few stylists at Dakota and none have left me with the ""choppies""! My hair is perfectly blended and I can EVEN not blowdry my hair and it looks beautiful! They also were sooo respectful of my wishes in the ""how much do you want to cut off today?"" area. So many times I have asked for a tiny trim and ended up with an inch or two. I hate that! The color and highlights are great too! Really natural and helps to camoflauge the grey when it comes in! AND when I can't get an appt. with the stylist who normally colors it the alternate stylist will use the same formula! Everyone working there really focuses on the clients satisfaction not their own egos! Worth every penny knowing that I am the one who should be happy! Pros: Great team attitude! No tension! Fun! Cons: Very busy. But what can you say to that? more

This is consistently one of the best Salon's I've frequented. The front desk staff is courteous (although often busy!) and the stylists are great. Seeing the owners so hands on is a nice touch. The decor is gorgeous and while not a ""spa"" you get a very relaxing energy and feel to the salon. They offer stylists who range from conservative to trendy and can accomodate so many different requests. This salon really is a great find and easy to get to off Rt. 100 just west of 95. Best in Columbia without a doubt. Probably one of the best in the Baltimore area too. Pros: Great decor, Great staff, Great location Cons: size of waiting area could be larger more

I've been to many hair salons, trying to find one can be hard especially when you don't know what you want,but no other salon has ever made me feel so comfortable and welcomed. everyone from the front dest to the shampoo assistants to my stylist, had the best customer service, my stylist took time with me looking through books and really explaining my options with my hair. I got more compliments on my hair then ever before, SO thank you Dakota! ill be seeing you again! Pros: customer service, nice product line, well trained staff more

Over charge for service.. why? not because of the great stylist.. but probably because they have so many people working... didn't like the haircut. I'll be fair, i'll give average rating. But I really didn't think the hair cut was worth it... $30 men's haircut for mediocre scissor skill... will not pay again for poor skill again! It feels like Supercuts. My fiance recommended the salon to me when I moved here from Las Vegas, NV. I get my haircut through the salon every three weeks and twice a year get a good facial. I love this place and would recommend this to anyone. more

I think this salon is a find!!! After being butchered, over processed, and burned I turned to Dakota's to find a friendly staff, super talented staff, and over all great experience! I actually have been stopped on the street to ask where I get my hair done! If you have not gone to Dakota's then your hair probably does not look as good as it could!! more
