I've lived all over the country and recently moved to Saint Louis. At a colleague's suggestion, I went to D-Zine for a haircut. She had never been herself but someone said this salon is fairly well-known. I must say I found the salon decor pretentious and cold. I believe they must fancy themselves as cutting edge (pun intended) but really, there was nothing much that impressed me here. My stylist, who I will not name, did an awful job on my hair. I have a rather simple stacked hair style but this stylist seemed unable to cut a straight line and after several tries, still was unable to give me an adequate cut. She was completely clueless and had no eye for style. Needless to say, I won't be back Pros: that it's a free country and I never have to go back Cons: cold, pretentious, unqualified stylist more

Great place and professional. 12/25/2009

I got a hair cut from Earl who took the time and effort to consult me about my hair. I've been unhappy with differnt stylists in the past because they put their ideas on me even though it's my hair and I have to live with it. I told him what I love and hate and I'm working with a little breakage due to chemical damage (bleach from the last stylist). He took the time to blow dry and cut my hair very carefully. He took my wants into account and put everything together with my face shape. Earl gave me a cut that I love to style and cut around my highlights instead of cutting them off. He also taught me how to style my new 'do! He was very friendly and talkative and seemed to truly care about me. I think D-Zine is a great place to go. Everyone was friendly! This is one of the best hair salons around Clayton. They are very professional. I came to know about this place when they did charity camp at our work. more

got my hair cut with jun (""john"") based off of a review online. he was very thorough and friendly, gave me exactly what I wanted, and complimentary shampoo, conditioning, and blow-dry. absolutely love my hair now, and other customers looked great. this salon seems to be particularly good at coloring (I didn't have it done, but others' styling looked wonderful). I thought jun was great and will request him in the future, but would also trust any of the stylists working while I was there. Pros: friendly, great haircut, student discount, clean Cons: none for my experience more
