The lady would squeeze her way through a crowd with a loaded platter, and would pull away if anyone tried to get some food. it was not isolated either, she did this all night long. We had to encircle her to get her to stop. The entire night she was scowling at everyone and everything. Seemed like she was appalled at the prospect of having to do her job. This was the lady in her early 40's. The rest of the waitstaff appeared to be young, really young. One of the servers told us several of the female waitstaff were only 14 years old, and that is a very believable number. The Food - Seems they must frequent Sam's Club. Early in the evening they served very delicious sandwhichs. That lasted about 10 minutes before they progressed to items like Totino's pizza rolls. Unfortunatly this is no joke. Some of it was fantastic, most of it was not. The Drinks - Serving beer in a 6 ounce dixie cup is absolutely ridiculous. I can't honestly attest to anything else. The Music - Ended up being ok, but this is only because the wedding party provided the DJ with the music. He informed the party earlier in the week that due to Limewire's serviced being stopped due to a federal injunction, he would not be able to provide any of the requested music. When asked about being discounted because of this, the party was told 'No' because it was an all inclusive deal. DJ was terrible during the party as well. Who interrupts "Shout" or "Thriller" to make announcements. Nothing could ever wait a minute or two for the song to finish, and this was not at the behest of the wedding party either. Security - Stayed in the DJ booth most of the night. Several people at the party not recognized. The Facility - The setup was very nice. The layout and area reserved for the ceremony really did come out looking professional, and to this the place does deserve credit. PROS - Looks good, the host was very coordinated and knew what was going to happen and how. CONS - Waitstaff was rude, drinks were small, DJ was worthless. more

Had my wedding here on October 10, 2009 and it was a dream come true. The ceremony was just what I had wanted and the food was excellent. Lenny did an amazing job on everything and we couldn't have asked for a more beautiful wedding. Everyone said the food was excellent, even though we didn't get to taste much of it, too busy dancing and having the time of our lives. Would recommend this place to anyone who is on a budget and wants the best bang for their buck. Guest must wait outside before the doors are opened but that was not even a problem, gave the guest a chance to socialize before the event. Thinking about having a party every few years and would definitely consider renting this place out for that. The staff was excellent and very attentive to the guest and especially me and my groom. WHAT A HORRIBLE PLACE! THE STAFF ARE RUDE AND COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE BRIDE, GROOM OR GUEST!!! THE POLICE IS MORE LIKE HITLER! My reception was there this past Saturday and it was completely and honestly a dream come true. I had a grand time and so did all of my guest. To this day people are still calling me telling me how much fun the reception was nd how good the food was. The owner Leonard joked and talked to the guest and we even had our own personal host throughout the night. more

Our wedding was May 23, 2008. If we had to tell atleat one person about our experience we would try our best to explain how beautiful the atmosphere was, how great the staff was, including the owner, and how good the food was. We can't speak for others, but our wedding was simply a dream come true. The entire night was very well organized, and the staff treated us as if the night was all about us. We will be forever greatful to the Crystal Plantation for that beautiful night. more

Out of all the places in Metairie / Kenner area, this place is the most affordable. However, we would find out what their affordability ultimately costs as we will be forever disappointed. We were under the impression that they would coordinate the events (first dance, money dance, cake cutting, etc) given their brochure statement "? will serve as your personal host throughout your reception assuring that every detail will be attended to." However, we found out that wasn't the case as Tommy, the manager, stood back aloof all night. With everyone wondering when anything was suppose to happen, my wife and I had to coordinate the reception instead of enjoying it. Several events were rushed or missed such as the garter & bouquet toss and money dance. The staff didn't bring champagne for the toast until afterwards. During the cake cutting, the guests had to help us cut it as the staff was nowhere to be seen resulting in icing getting on my wife?s dress. There were several issues surrounding the cakes that evening, too. The bakery broke our custom cake topper and their fountains leaked on our cake making it a wet mess. Later on after the cake cutting, the $275 grooms cake was taken into the back to be cut and served. However, a large number of guests told us they never had a chance to try any nor was any of it put in our take-away boxes after the reception. Given the cake was meant to feed 98 people and less than 60 were around at the time of cake cutting, there should have been plenty available. After our honeymoon, I wrote a letter to the Crystal Plantation and later talked with the Anthony, CP owner's brother. He stated they didn't do coordination and left it up to photographers. This fact was NEVER communicated to us via the contract or verbal conversations with the owner. He also stated the contract says cake would be put in the take-away boxes, which they interpret as wedding cake. If we wanted grooms cake, we had to request it specifically. I am very dissatisfied with The OWNER . He harassed my fiance and I about payments after we lost everything in Kenner. and then canceled us after saying we could not get any money back and his insurance company told him to. We contacted the insurance and were told that they gave him no such information and his building damages and losses were covered no matter what he says. more
