- The owner of Crossfit Kaiju does not staff his box with all certified coaches. While most have obtained the Crossfit Level 1 coaching certificate, at least two coaches have zero certification/official training under the Crossfit name.
- Classes are not capped/organized in the most efficient way. Many nights at Kaiju, there are simultaneous classes occurring at once, often crossing over into each other and causing general confusion. This results in the Head Coach often losing his temper by snapping at other members, yelling at some 'seasoned’ members to “move their ----.” This may not bother some, but I choose exercise as a DE-stressor, not a further stressor.
- The policies are Kaiju are seen through the eyes of nepotism. When first joining Kaiju, the owner verbally mentions a “60 day” cancelation period; meaning, once you tell him you are not continuing your monthly membership, you are charged an additional 2 months whether you choose to “use that to your advantage” or not. What isn’t widely known is that the owner picks and chooses at his own personal discretion with whom to impose this “policy.” There is NO written contract signed by the joining member agreeing to this policy. Secondly, I personally was not subject to this policy, but other members were, based on the personal feelings of the owner. Some members are granted a 30 day cancelation, some are immediate, and some are held to the 60 days. I even knew a member who contested this cancelation policy with their creditor/bank and was subjected to numerous back and forth where the owner threatened legal action.
- The cliques are very real at Kaiju. Some emails are received only by hand-picked members, leaving other members ostracized. Some social events are exclusive to only certain members as well. The professionalism at Kaiju is lacking within the box; often resulting in unpleasant experiences.
