When you are on vacation, there is something about ice cream that just tastes better to me. Maybe it's the fact that I'm away and relaxed. I just don' t know.
I frequently spend weekends in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, at Great Sacandaga Lake. One of the big treats at night there is a trip to the Cree-Mee Freeze. An ice cream and fast food stand open only seasonally, the Cree-Mee Freeze has the best cones and ice cream dips around. They have various sundaes you can order in addition to hamburgers, hot dogs and other food. The women who run the stand have been there for years and are very friendly.
The cherry on top, no pun intended, is the price. Only $1.50 for a cone, when a few miles away by Lake George, prices tend to be gouged because of higher tourism.
