We are very pleased with our school. This school has been under new ownership for almost a year, and already we have seen an incredible transformation. This change is not only visible with the upgrade on buildings and grounds, but also with the class curriculum and new teachers. I appreciate a school that challenges and encourages my son. We will be continuing at CB Academy. more

STAY AWAY! This is not a good place for children unless you get a teacher who has been there more than 10 years. The owners care little about the staff and even less about the families. There are incidents of handling children roughly, talking down to eh children and parents. When Ms. Sheila left the school went to hell. She was the only one who really cared about the kids. That's probably why they got rid of her after such a long time. The director is always gone and they never return phone calls. Kids get hurt and the state never investigates. Kids are unsupervised. ASP is terrible!! There is little communication with parents about what's going on. They have had many administrative changes in the last few years and it just kept getting worse. Find someplace else for your child. Anyplace would be better than here. more

Two Thumbs Way Up! 2/6/2009

As a Cobb County teacher, I can attest to the fact that my son is getting a great foundation at Covered Bridge Montessori. He has been there for three years, and I plan to send him to the Covered Bridge Academy next year so that he can continue to thrive in this nurturing and educationally-sound environment. At Covered Bridge, the students are taught to be independent self-starters. Not only do they learn to take responsibility for themselves, but they are taught to care for others. The children do not sit at desks doing worksheets. They work with manipulatives, or hands-on activities, which help them to understand their world in a concrete way. The children are encouraged to challenge themselves, and unlike public schools which have to abide by No Child Left Behind legislation, Covered Bridge can meet your child's needs even if he or she is above average. The director gets to know each child well and is always available for parents' questions and concerns. She maintains a strong staff that is well-trained in the Montessori methods. I have felt very secure putting my son's education in their hands. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. One of the first things I fell in love with at the school was the backyard! It is important to me that my son has plenty of space to run around and play during the school day. That is a rarity in Cobb County. Covered Bridge has a fenced in, huge backyard, which is well-shaded with great big, interspersed trees. I have enjoyed getting to know the parents of my son's classmates as well. Each year the school puts on a fall festival, an international night and a spring festival in which the children perform with their class. These are special days that we look forward to every year. Instead of worrying about one parent's negative comments on this site, I would encourage you to visit the school for yourself, take a tour of the classrooms, and talk to other parents. I think it will be clear that this school has a lot to offer. Pros: well-trained staff, attentive director, great backyard, lunch program, parent involvement Cons: only accepts students up to nine years old more

Great Environment to Educate Children 1/22/2009

After looking around the Metro Atlanta area for a reputable Montessori Program we chose Covered Bridge Montessori and Academy. Our children have attended for the last two years. Being raised as a Montessori child, I was looking for this environment for my sons. Covered Bridge Montessori has done a fantastic job with my youngest son. I have had nothing but positive things to say about the Director and the support staff. They have always had my questions and/or concerns dealt with in a timely and professional matter. I am very pleased with the program offered at these schools. Pros: Loving Environment, High Academic Standards Cons: Candy and sweets are discouraged. more

Very Pleased with CBMS 12/19/2008

We?ve been very happy with Covered Bridge Montessori and the care our daughter has received. We?ve been attending for almost a year and have been very pleased with the entire staff. Our teachers, Miss Cathy and Miss Lauren in the toddler class, although new to the school, have been great ? providing a very caring and stimulating environment. As working parents, we did a lot of research and visited many child care options in the area before choosing a place for our daughter. Covered Bridge was the best option for us, offering a Montessori-based preschool curriculum with the convenience of extended hours. We haven?t had any issues with approaching any of the staff members and have found no problems with communicating with the teachers, director or support staff. Overall, we are very happy with the school and would recommend to others. Pros: Teachers, Parent Involvement, Activities, Educational Value Cons: Large class size more

Happy with Covered Bridge Montessori 12/5/2008

My husband and I are so happy with the care our child receives at Covered Bridge. We have been at Covered Bridge for about one year. This school has provided structured learning opportunities that are individualized to my child, who has progressed in so many ways since he started attending. His teacher was new to Covered Bridge when we started, but we could not be happier with Miss Cathy (and Miss Lauren, the assistant teacher). I was impressed when we had our parent-teacher meeting with Miss Cathy this fall that she seems to know all of our son's quirks and charms as well as we do-- she even has memorized his birthday, which fell during the summer when school was out, but which he talks about enthusiastically year-round! Like so many other parents who struggle with the idea of having to rely on other people to help bring up our kids, and missing out on some of the action, my husband and I depend on caregivers and teachers to provide not only proper intellectual and social stimulation, but also the unconditional love, responsiveness, and caring that our kids need and deserve. I feel confident that our son receives all of those things at Covered Bridge. Pros: teachers, daytime activities, improved communication with parents Cons: after school program is still a work in progress more

Letter from American Montessori Society 8/22/2008

American Montessori Society August 21,2008 Attention: I amwriting to inform you of emailcorrespondence we received in the American Montessori Society office from several parents from your school on July 21-24, 2008. Concerns were expressed about the following: 1. As it pertains to security 2.As it pertains to children being allowed to play in the sun, without water, sunscreen and during code red and orange ozone days; 3. And the deaths of three classroom pets as documented in the e-mails forwarded from the georgia Department of Agriculture and Cobb County Animal Control 4.Lack of policy and training of staff, especially summer staff, regarding summer health and safety issues; 5. Dismissal of children from the school for perceived differences of opinion with school administration regarding these issues. The e-mails expressing these concerns were copied by the senders to twenty different email addresses. We strongly advise that you rectify these matters and communicate to the parents of your schools the steps you taken to assure the health and safety of their children.
