Sit and Sit and Eat and Eat!!!! 8/20/2008

"Nothing but sit and sit and eat and eat" says Petruchio at the wedding banquet and that is exactly the thought I have when I think of Ruby et Violette! When you walk in, you're greeted not only with a smiling, enthusiastic staff, but easy music and an easier atmosphere. The cookies and brownies are amazing and depending on your mood, the baristas can make suggestions of what drink you might want to pair with your dessert (ie a nice latte, or a mocha, or some of their INCREDIBLE drinking chocolate, or maybe a hot herbal tea or lemonaide or iced tea!!!!!) The relaxed sitting area transports me directly non-stop to Paris. With the marble table tops, the white iron chairs, and the beautiful artwork, I feel completely at ease in a fast paced neighborhood. The best part was that I controlled my expereince! The baristas there take such pride in their work and friendly and talkative, but if you're looking for a more private encounter, they will help with your selection and that is that, but never faulting in their carefulness! A complete, naturally relaxed PERSONABLE experience that led me to leave with a box delicious cookies and brownies for later that night! 10 outa 10! Pros: Delicious desserts, drinking chocolate, and fantastic staff Cons: hard pressed to find one. more

Tasty and unique cookies 7/29/2008

I went to the cafe with a friend last night, and was totally blown away by the cookies. I'm a big white chocolate fan, but tired of only finding white chocolate and macademia nut. I had a key lime cookie with white chocolate that tasted just like the dessert. I also had the crystillized ginger, which I though was so unique and flavorful. My friend was less adventurous and had the "perfect" (which was the normal chocolate chunk) and an oatmeal raisin. We both tried a sample of the mint ice cream that had cookie in it. It was delicious and we will definitely be back. Pros: Ambience, Quality, Variety Cons: none!! more

Exellent Cookies - Very Pricy 5/23/2006

At $18/dozen, these cookies are very pricy. I had the "perfect", expresso bean, kitchen sink, and oatmeal. While they were VERY good, soft chewey, buttery. I'm torn as to whether it is worth the price. I think they make a nice gift, but are definitely too expensive for everyday consumption. On the plus side, 5% of their profit is donated to Mount Sinai hospital. The shop is really cute and boutiquey. The woman running the shop was extremely sweet. Pros: delicious, soft & chewy Cons: expensive more
