Great Place, and it's FREE! 11/20/2005

We took the kids in our playgroup here, and they loved it! There is a big picnic area where we were all able to sit and socialize after we made it through the zoo. The only bad part is that there is not nearly enough parking! It is a great place to take the kids when you are on a budget! more

Great place for little kids 9/23/2005

This is sort of like a petting zoo, except you don't get to pet the animals, lol. When you first walk in to your right you will see a pond with a lot of varieties of ducks and geese. As you walk on into the barn you will find sheep, goats, cows, rabbits and maybe a few other animals. I guess now that I think of it, you can pet those animals. As you exit the barn you will find a large horse, a llama, deer, pigs, chickens. Additionally they have a bird exhibit, raccoons, foxes and peacocks. Quite an interesting array of animals. There is a little gift shop and place to buy a snack. The gift shop has some neat little items. In the fall they sell pumpkins and in the winter, trees. One neat aspect is that there is an old railroad car that the kids can climb in and explore. I'd say it's good for kids under 10. Older than that and they'd probably get bored. more

Can't ask for better family entertainment 9/19/2005

Not only is Cosley Zoo FREE, but it's fun, too. The kids love getting close to the animals and playing on the train car. Seasonally, they have a pumpkin patch in the Fall and other activities around the holidays. The zoo is on the small side, but there is a lot to see, convinient parking, and come on, it's free! more

We love Cosley Zoo! 8/31/2005

Cosley Zoo is a great place for young kids. There are lots of farm animals to visit with. It does not take hours to go through like a traditional zoo, but is a place to hang out and enjoy. Fall is fun when they have it decorated for halloween, have pumpkins, gords, etc for sale. There is a train caboose for the kids to explore and best of all it is easy to get to and free. You can picnic there on a nice day too. more

Great For the Younger Set! 8/28/2005

For the 6-and-under set, this is a great zoo. It's tiny, especially if you're used to Brookfield or Lincoln Park -- but just the right size to keep a preschooler's interest and just the right size for them to run around without exhausting themselves. Mostly farm animals, with a few rehabilitated wild animals. And -- it's free! more

Great free zoo 8/24/2005

The Cosley Zoo in Wheaton is a great FREE place to bring the kids on a summer day. Did I mention it is free? There are lots of animals to see but not the tradional animals like lions, tigers, and bears oh my. This zoo has cows, llamas, horses, pigs, and ducks. It's more of a farm zoo. But the kids will love it nonetheless. There is a place to buy snacks while you are there and a cute little giftshop as well. more

Intimate Zoo 7/28/2005

This is probably one of the smallest zoo's I've ever seen, but it was the perfect size for my 2 year old. It has just a handful of ducks, horses and cows, with a few other misc. animals. There is a nice area to picnic and also a huge train, that really is just there to climb on. I'd say you can see everything this zoo has to offer in under 2 hours. So it's a fun quick trip. more
