The Cornell Daily Sun is an independent newspaper that serves as Cornell's student paper. It recently moved into new offices in the commons. The paper is a great source of information about myriad topics. It is one of the few places to find information about happenings on campus through the day book. The articles are relatively well-written although there are occasional lapses.
One of my favorite features, which might come as a surprise to most readers, is the advertisements in the paper. Many times, this is the best place to learn about events occurring on campus including lectures, films, and celebrations. There are advertisements for companies coming to interview as well as for volunteer opportunities. This is one reason why I like to read the actual paper in addition to checking out the online version.
The paper has won many awards and competes with the Ithaca Journal in many categories. It has national news, although it doesn't go into depth in this area.
Overall, it is one of the better student publications and an incredible amount of hard work and time goes into running it. It is a good read, whether you are interested in sports, cornell news, cartoons, or just doing the crossword puzzle.
