Best Place in Cypress! 8/2/2011

I absolutely LOVE Cork! It's one of my favorite places to hang out. The atmosphere is great... it's laid back and relaxing, but not too casual and definitely not stuffy like some wine bars. Cork is a great place to go for a girls night or on a date. The service is good too... I've gotten to know the staff (since I frequent it often) and always look forward to seeing them.\r \r I've read some of the other comments and disagree with the few that have said it is expensive. It's definitely more expensive than Kroger or HEB, but I would expect that given that they are grocery stores and they aren't providing you with a service or even a place to drink. However, it's cheaper than restaurants and most of the other wines bars that I've been too. The prices are reasonable... I wouldn't have joined their wine club if I thought otherwise... more

Disappointing 6/18/2011

I've been there multiple times, but don't think I'll return anymore. First off, it is expensive but there aren't a lot of places in Cypress to relax in like this so I didn't mind. I've met the owner and think he is nice, but there is this blonde girl that has served me the last two times and is RUDE. The prices are not worth the hit and miss service. Also, the last time I was in there some of the customers were causing a scene and insulting other people. Not exactly classy. more

A little slice of heaven in Cypress 8/29/2009

The Cork is my favorite place to go to for girls night, date night with my hubby, Friday wine down and even drinks with my parents. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing to any and all wine lovers. In addition to an amazing wine selection, the coffee is fabulous! The customer service is great, be sure to ask for a taste if your unsure about a wine. The team knows many of the customers by name which adds a warm and personal touch. If you are in the mood for a summer sipper try the bellinis and/or frozen cosmos...YUMM-O! Pros: Great staff, fabulous atmosphere and close to home Cons: n/a more

way to go Aubry 7/28/2009

Visited a few times - not completely happy with service. Owner must be in tune with business... has put together a new phenominal team. Aubry, it's people like you that bring customers back - thank you. Pros: it's close/quaint Cons: not much more

Excellent wine and coffee bar 7/14/2009

A refreshing departure from the strip malls and chain restaurants in Cypress. This place has an impressive wine selection that is incessantly changing and the best coffee in town. Atmosphere is relaxed - don't come rushed. It's a place you can slow down and enjoy great wine, food, music, and company. Pros: Wine selection, coffee, and music Cons: No complaints more

Great Atmosphere and Wine Selection 7/14/2009

I've thoroughly enjoyed going to Cork over the past 2 years. It's my favorite place to go because the atmosphere is great (it's relaxing and you can actually hear the people you're with), the staff is friendly and very professional, and the wine selection is great!\r \r I love reserving the private room for girls night out! It's easy to reserve, reasonably priced, and we can order food from Newk's. Pros: Atmosphere, Wine Selection, Staff more

Best Bar in Houston is in Cypress! 10/8/2008

Hands down, Cork Cafe Wine and Coffee is the nicest bar I have ever stepped foot in. From the minute I arrived, I was treated with the best customer service. For example, I was able to ""taste test"" a couple of different bottles before making a decision. Also, the employee's are very friendly and knowledgeable. Cork Cafe's environment breeds relaxation and comfort and allows for a great night out. I would strongly recommend Cork Cafe Wine and Coffee as a place for any ""date night"" with the ol' lady or just to wet the whistle. more

Love This Place!!! 8/26/2008

This is the best bar I've ever been too! The atmosphere is really great. The seating is comfortable and it always seems to be busy without being too loud. The service is great and I've had the opportunity to get to know the owner and staff during my numerous visits and love them all!!! The have a private room you can rent out too. My brother-in-law rented it for a work party a few months ago and had a great time. I definitely recommend this place for any occassion. Pros: Great service, great atmosphere, nice wine selection, trendy without being obnoxious Cons: Not close enough to my house more

Cozy, Cozy, & Cozier! 7/20/2008

My girlfriends and I go here just about every week for either Happy Hour or Ladies Night Tuesdays. We love the 5 bucks off bottles! Anyone who kids themselves by not buying a bottle is crazy, just admit it, you want that bottle! haha... The Cork Cafe is perfect for us aside from the savings 'cause we can more or less send our husbands to BWW's and have ourselves a quiet evening with cheese, wine, and pathetically cozy seating/atomosphere. So great to see this place in Cypress! No more driving in town just to relax! Pros: It's a Godsend in Cypress Cons: Ladies night is not every night! more

not sure I would do business like this..... 7/19/2008

I heard about this place from a friend and decided to check it out on my way to another store in the strip mall when I saw the banner for happy hour ""$5 off a bottle"" not sure what the rest was but I knew it ended at 6:00 pm. I checked my cell phone (satellite time) and it was 5:57 pm when I parked. I went in and the place was not packed but not empty either. I stood at the bar for at least 3-4 minutes when the owner imerged from the back. I asked him if I missed happy hour and he said ""yes, you just missed it."" Knowing that I was standing there patiently when he came from the back and not just running in the door, I would have given the ""new"" customer the benefit of the doubt and said, ""well it is 6:02 but what would you like."" Instead he let me walk right out the door. If I were him I would not get so comfortable as to let a potential regular, loyal wine loving customer out the door for good on a ""technical foul."" In a time when gas is approaching $4 a gallon, luxuries will go first. Or was I dreaming that Starbucks is in trouble? Just not the way I would do business. That 2 minute ""grace period"" could have turned into much more business, oh and don't forget referrals. hmmmm. Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Inflexible more

Wonderful modern wine bar! 3/26/2008

Just spent a hugely enjoyable Wednesday night here.\r \r The place was packed...Always a good sign. The selection of wines from the bottle was amongst the best in Houston (and would stand up to most of the best restaurants). The ambience was perfect (to my tastes). Very acceptable noise levels, eclectic 'off the grid' music using familiar but never predictable material. An excellent private area which we utilised for an informal business meeting and top class European cheeses and olives which went down extremely well along with a 'gourmet pizza' selection delivered from next door.\r \r The decor is extremely tasteful, mixing wood textures with slate and modern fittings in a manner which would be best described as comfortable without being too sanitised.\r \r Staff were excellent, we were served promptly and efficently all evening by people with a good knowledge of wine (and coffee) and the owner took a personal interest that our needs were attended to.\r \r This place makes you feel a little special, and that is a rare thing... Pros: Amazing selection of wines, great ambience... Cons: You could spend far too much time here :) more

Ultimate Wine Lover's Cafe! 7/29/2007

This cafe is smooth, soft & velvety, like many of its wines. Unique & exciting selection that I have not seen at Spec's or grocery stores. \r A neat concept to experience better wines by the glass before buying a bottle ""to go"" knowing full well that you/friends will enjoy it. No more trying to decipher what a Spec's hand-written description of ""earthy, barnyard character w/ hints of pencil shavings"" means.\r \r I will be buying all my wines from here.\r \r Oh yeah, there are specialty coffees/teas & cheese/hummus appetizers too. \r \r Worth every penny. Pros: Try before you buy concept Cons: Will have to go back many times to taste every wine more

Awesome Environment and Selection 7/18/2007

My fiance and I came to this place after a movie near-by. We loved everything about this place! Awesome seating, atmosphere, selections, prices and service! We continue to go out of our way to hang out there. If you are ever around this place, you should definately check it out!!! Pros: Everything!!! Cons: None we can imagine... more

Call me Norm... 5/17/2007

So I went to check out this place that some friends had mentioned. I had a latte with intentions of only ""checking it out"". After getting kinda comfy in my nice chair at the bar I decided to hang out a little longer than planned. Although I was just there to ""check it out"" the owner went ahead and offered for me to sample a few wines while we were chatting. I'll blame it on the owner for my decision to stick around and have a glass. He made me do it, I swear! (or at least that's what I told my wife). Needless to say, I should have written my name on that chair 'cause like Norm from Cheers, I'll be on the corner of the bar often. Pros: Ambience, Service, Coffee exceptional, Wine is unique Cons: It's so tempting to hang out for long periods of time! more
