    PGA professional: David Twohig

    Director of golf: Rick Fretland

Course description: This is the highest 18-hole golf course in North America, at almost 9,700 feet. The course follows the natural alpine terrain, winding its way through pine forests, trout ponds and 10-Mile Creek.

Signature hole: No. 17 -- 168 yards, par 3. The tee shot is framed by trees on both sides of the hole providing a chute toward the green with the 10-Mile Range behind it.

Best birdie chance: No. 6 -- 502 yards, par 5. A risk-reward type of hole. A wild tee shot can find water. The second shot must clear the bunker on the right, although there is ample room to the left to bail out.

Play policy: No restrictions on outside play, although resort guests have priority on tee times. Carts are required and are restricted to the cart paths. Walking is not allowed. Proper golf attire and spikeless shoes required.

Reservation policy: Tee times may be made four days in advance for the general public. Resort guests may make tee times 60 days in advance.

Directions: Located 75 miles west of Denver. Exit Interstate 70 at exit 195. Turn right at the Copper Mountain Resort sign and proceed one-quarter mile on Copper Road. Turn left at Golf Course Drive and head to the clubhouse.

Fees (18 holes/9 holes): High season, June 13 to Sept. 13 ($75/$38); all other times ($50/$26). Closed mid-Oct. to May. Power cart rental included in green fees.--John Shelton
