I moved from Texas, and I kept hearing that Cookout was the place to go! I love Mo Jo's in Downtown Raleigh, and I found it hard to believe that anybody could have better burgers ...

great food low prices in and out fast!!!!! Pros: food Cons: nothing more

Best hamburger Ever 1/28/2009

Cookout is amazing. The hamburgers are fresh and chargrilledas if cooked right on your grill in the backyard at the fourth of July, the best burger I have ever tasted. In and Out burgers in california are great but are second in my book to Cookout. I do wish they had a menu that was easier to read though it is very bright at night. The milkshake selection is huge with all sorts of different combinations available that are not even on the menu. It is a local chain only in North carolina I think they would do well in other states as well, especially Virginia. Overall food is close to perfect service is fast but they do rush you to order, only downside, I guess because the lines are so long. Pros: Food speed price Cons: rush you to order more

A great burger! 1/27/2009

I must preface this by writing that I rank Cookout comparable to Five Guys Burgers and Fries. Both make a great burger. In Cali, neither compares to In and Out Burger, whoch blowz them both away. Same is true in NY, where ""The Burger Joint"" has the best damn burger in the world, hands down. For those who don't know, The Burger Joint doesn't even have a name, it's a non descript dive behind a curtain in the lobby of the very upscale Le Merdian Hotel on 56th st. in Manhattan. And being Manhattan you can buy one for $7. Which is relatively cheap for Manhattan (A Big Mac will cost you $4). Unfortunately you'll wait on line for 30 minutes just to order one. Which means a line about 50 people deep, unlike Raleigh where a line 10 people deep is considered a rush and you better plan on waiting 30 minutes. Cookout is excellent for the value, and makes a great burger. Definietly worth a look if you're ever in the Raleigh area. more

Love the food...but there are other problems 9/30/2008

So I am a huge fan of Cookout. I came down from Massachusetts a few months ago and heard that Cookout has the best burgers around, and yes, I have been there countless times since I have moved down here. The only problem I have ever had with Cookout was one time at the Cookout on Western Blvd. in Raleigh, when I went through the drive thru late night. I gave them my credit card to pay for my meal (I got 2 trays, and it was probably not more than a 10 dollar order) and the next day I went to take money out of my bank account and there was nothing there. I went to my bank to get a statement, and Cookout had actually charged me $150 from the night before. I took a copy of my bank statement to the restaurant and they took care of me right then and there and gave me $150 cash to make up for the mistake and didn't charge me for what I had gotten the night before. (I wasn't really mad because I had a feeling they would give me my money back and I wasn't looking for anything for free, but I got my meal for free after all). Either way, I have still gone back and I love the food. I want it tonight actually. Pros: 2 sides with your meal!!! (love the choices) Cons: no place to sit more

Good Food, Worst Customer Service EVER 5/25/2008

I moved from Texas, and I kept hearing that Cookout was the place to go! I love Mo Jo's in Downtown Raleigh, and I found it hard to believe that anybody could have better burgers than they do. I finally decided to try them out and I had a terrible experience ordering my food. First of all, their menu has about 10,000 items and its smaller than newspaper print. As I am trying to decide what to get, the guy kept asking me multiple times if I was ready, when I had already told him I would let him know when I was ready. I asked him a couple of questions and he answered them very short and rude. He pretty much made it seem like I was stupid for not knowing the menu. My first instinct was to tell him off, but I did not feel like getting a surprise in my hamburger. The food was very good, but I would recommend asking locals what to order and be ready to order the second you roll over because the staff will not help you. I'm not sure if I will go back, especially after reading the r0ach story! I will stick to Mo Joe's (Best burgers in NC) Pros: good food Cons: rude employees and terrible service more

Terrible customer service!!!! 5/3/2008

They messed up our order and when one employee apologized the one at the window with him, proceeds to say ""Don't say your sorry to them"" with the window open. All we asked for were 2 burgers and a drink is that so hard? no special orders so it shouldn't have been hard. Will not be returning. Pros: Good Food Cons: Terrible Service more

Still havent had a milkshake 2/26/2008

since my last review. I am the original ""sumpat, "" but have since gotten rid of the email address from the last review and have no clue what the password was. \r \r I just wanted to update POPO and the rest of you that I did report the incident to proper people at Wake County. Within a day they were at the location and even called me while at the restaurant. All they could find was that the cups were stored improperly. That is how they think the ""critter"" got into my shake. \r \r I'm not sure why I thought POPO's comment warranted a response, but I guess I was slightly offended that my story was questioned. I honestly don't know what kind of person would go through all the trouble of making up a story like that. As for the fact that people in CARY would complain.... I think anyone would complain if they sucked a r0ach through a straw!!!! Cons: I liked milkshakes until I had one here more

Better than HOMEMADE!!!!!!!!!!! 2/17/2008

I cant even attempt to make burgers this good! I would drive to North Raleigh from Apex to get these burgers. I take out of town family to pick up Cook Out while they are here. Drive thru is ok you dont have to wait. O-rings ROCK TOO! Pros: Awesome Food! Short waits in Drive Thru Cons: Not many locations, no lobby more

Good Food Fast 3/25/2007

First of all, SUMPAT (writer of the first review) didn't report it to the proper authorities which makes me question the writers intentions and honesty. \r \r CookOut has excellent hamburgers, hotdogs and shakes. No, they do not have the customer service expected of 5 star restaurants, but who is going to complain considering how economical the prices are? People in Cary would, of course. For fast, inexpensive, good food, CookOut is very recommended. more

A friend in my milkshake? 9/12/2006

I USED TO LOVE Cook Out!\r \r My boyfriend thought it would be nice to take me to get a milkshake tonight. My banana milkshake was tasting just fine until about half way through. It was then that I sucked a big ""banana"" through the straw, but it was hard. I didn't chew; I spat it out in my hand (in the car) and left it there until we returned home. It was at home, on the bathroom vanity, that I put the dark brown clumps (in 2 pieces) down. In perfect view and plain sight was the tail end of a pest with its tiny legs. So I thought maybe Im not seeing this correctly (please don't let me be seeing this correctly). I squished the other ""brown clump"" and it was kind of bloody. Not like gushing, but you could tell it was there. \r \r After making myself sick....I did call and speak to the manager. I let him know that I wasn't looking for anything free, but wanted to let him know about the situation. I said that maybe they had a pest problem that they would need to look into. He blamed it on the construction across the street and said that it must have came in through the window. They didn't have pests. I don't know how it got in my MILKSHAKE then?????? Anyway, he offered to replace my milkshake.... THE LAST THING I WANT IS ANOTHER MILKSHAKE. I told him that and he said he would refund my money. Really a $1.99 is not worth driving back up there. \r \r I just thought I would share this with all of you. I am completely grossed. Bad thing is I still have to go clean it off my vanity. Pros: none now Cons: buggies more

Great Place 12/1/2003

The Cook Out on Walnut is a tremendous place to get a fantastic hamburger, hot dog, milk shake or any other type of ""fast food"". Its my favourite place for a burger in the Triangle. Pros: food, fast, cheap Cons: traffic on Walnut more

Good, but... 5/2/2003

The food is good, although I'd say they get the order right less than half the time. The Cook Out on Hwy. 70 has the absolute rudest employees I've encountered. I swear sometimes they get my order wrong intentionally. Say no mayo, get a glob of mayo bigger than the burger! If the food wasn't so good and cheap, I'd stop going altogether. more

Incredible 2/8/2003

Our favorite for family ""Burger Nite"" We have a 16-year old that goes through a hugh cheddar style, large seasoned fries and a peanut butter shake like there's no tomorrow. Pros: Great Food, Quick Service, Good Value Cons: No Seating more

The Best there is 12/27/2002

Crazy For Cook Out 10/2/2002

Cook Out has the best burgers. They are a good value for what you get, and they are freshly prepared. Their shakes are terrific, too...Chocolate Peanut Butter or Chocolate Malted or Watermelon when it is in season. MMMMM, and the onion rings, too. Pros: Inexpensive, Good Food, Double Drive-Thru more

Killer Burgers 8/30/2002

Excellent burgers, shakes and all!!!!!!!!!! You won't find a better tasting drive thru burger (or a lot of sit ins too!) Now if we only had a White Castle or Crystal!!!!!!! Pros: Best Drive Thru! more

Cook Out Better than a BackYard Cook Out 8/28/2002

This place is great. It's just as fast as McDonalds, you pay very comparable prices, and have unbelievable food. With a place like this around, who would ever go to a fast food joint like McDonalds again!? Pros: Awesome Selection, Great Food, Big Big Burgers more

10 8/27/2002

Best Hamburgers in the Triangle! Just like home on the grill -- big and juicy! more

Triangle's BEST Shakes! 8/13/2002

We love Cook Out! Its inexpensive, but great food. I think they have the best hamburgers and shakes in the Triangle. BBQ plates are delicious and a great deal. Hushpuppies make a nice change from fries, but fries are good too..thick cut and taste like real potatoes. Gotta have a milkshake if you go to CookOut!!! Pros: great food, fast, accurate, milkshakes Cons: no seats, access on Falls Neuse more
