I agree with you James 6/11/2010

My sister died in July 2009 and I called upon Community Funeral Services of Ridgeway to take care of my sister?s services. Kelly Ratcliff the director of the funeral home met you me and my brother. I could not believe anyone, if ever they had been served by the staff of Community Funeral Services and Kelly; have the gall to write anything negative. Kelly helped our family when no one else would. We had limited funds, to be honest only $5,000.00, and he provided our family with a beautiful, caring and compassionate funeral services, in which he, his wife and one of the other employees of the funeral home sung and played for the funeral, for the $5,000.00. They provided a beautiful casket and vault along with services for that amount. \r \r I totally agree with James, if you are in need of a funeral home that is honest and cares for you family at an affordable price in Martinsville, call Kelly Ratcliff and Community Funeral Services. I met with two other funeral homes in more

Community Funeral Services if the best! 6/11/2010

The person that wrote a review before me, stating avoid this funeral home due to their collection procedures, I feel wanted something for nothing and then tried to beat the funeral home out of their monies. My family used Community Funeral Services and Mr. Ratcliff met with our family. I had a perception of how we could and may be taken advantage of for our mother had passed. I have never had anyone more compassionate, and helpful in providing care for our mother and our family during her passing. Mr. Ratcliff was honest and shared with how to save monies and not over spend. We had limited funds and Mr. Ratcliff worked with our family with the funds we had and served our family as if we were a family on Mulberry. I can not say enough about the honesty, caring and professional gentleman, Mr. Ratcliff and his staff are at Community Funeral Services. This is the reason I?m sure the lady commenting before me was trying to beat the funeral home out of their money. By all means, if you more

Check the state law 5/28/2010

All should avoid this funeral home due to their collection practices which violate state law. This parlor has decided they are above the law in regards to collections. Your grief will be ten-fold because of their arrogance. They will abuse you in their greed and determination to turn your account over to a collection agency. A payment plan is not an option for their robust greed and total lack of compassion for your grief. Their love of money has taken a back seat to humanity. more

Grieving With Our Family 6/29/2005

My first experience with death came at the age of 10, when I lost three grandparents in a one year span. All three funerals were held at Community Funeral Services (then Tomlinson's Funeral Home, which is still owned and operated by Charlie Tomlinson.) Over the years, he developed a personal relationship with many of my family members, as his services expanded beyond the funeral and burial - he followed up with phone calls to express sympathy and support, which was always greatly appreciated. Community Funeral Service is a small operation, consisting of two chapels separated by doors that may be opened to accomodate larger gatherings. The staff is friendly and professional, and most helpful in assisting with arrangements, especially for those without access to a lavish budget. I am greatful to Mr. Tomlinson and his staff for the support and respect shown to my family over the years. PROS: Wonderful staff; nice chapel; assistance with arrangements. CONS: Small. more
