Great Furniture; Awful Prices; Even Worse Service 6/21/2011

I've purchased two pieces from them and have been thrilled with their quality. Their prices, however, are beyond extreme and their sales staff is borderline rude. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anywhere in the area that carries furniture of a comparable quality, but I won't be buying any more pieces from them! While I am not one to have issues with people being in my "bubble" (personal space), upon entering their store, a saleswoman walked over and stood so close to me I could not look her in the eye without leaning backwards. Bizarrely invasive indeed. Additionally, I left a wool scarf there last winter, called twice about it, and both times was promised a return phone call which I never received. Even if they didn't have it, after spending over $3,500 on a chair, I felt a little entitled to having my call returned. more

overpriced in the extreme 12/2/2010

Wife and I (repeat customers) went to buy a Hancock and Moore couch. We were quoted $1300.00 more than a competitor (the Keeping Room) whom we visited later in the week. She returned the leather samples and after she informed the 'salesman' over the overcharge was treated rudely. Repeat customers no more. more

No regard for customer satisfaction -- beware 4/1/2010

I purchased a very expensive piece of furniture from CH, and when the piece did not function as it should and the craftmanship was poor (new furniture today is just not that well made, no matter whether it's high-end or not), I received absolutely no help from CH. It took numerous calls and emails and two weeks until somebody got back to me, and even then they refused to budge *one iota* on even a small price adjustment, even to compensate me for my handyman's time in fixing the piece so it would work properly or something nominal to make me feel better -- and this for a several thousand dollar piece of furniture. They have no concern for customer time and effort and inconvenience in trying to deal with service issues. I was shocked that this is the way they treat people who have spent thousands of dollars in their store, and I can tell you this attitude goes all the way to the top of the management as I spoke with the owner who was not willing to compromise one inch -- I get a more customer-satisfaction-oriented attitude at the Pottery Barn for a $10 candle. Don't shop here, you will regret it if you need anything once you have paid in full and the piece is delivered. One reviewer said they are worse than used car dealers, but that is an insult to all the car dealers out there. I have never spent so much and been so disregarded as a customer - -not even an "I'm so sorry for the inconvenience and we do value your business." more

Overpriced Furniture, Condescending Staff & Lousy Customer Service 10/29/2009

They've been around forever selling overpriced furnishings backed by lousy customer service. Apparently the transient population of wealthy newcomers to N. VA provides an on-going pool of uninformed consumers to be taken advantage of. Don't bother trying to return anything, they're worse than used car dealers. There are far better choices in the area or treat yourself to a trip to the NC factories for quality furniture at reasonable prices. more

Colony House Furniture 9/26/2005

Colony House Furniture carries a wide selection of beautiful high end furniture. It's been around forever and had a good reputation. THe staff is a little snooty though! I went in with my two kids and I will admit I was NOT dressed to kill that day but I did have money to spend on furniture. They greeted me warily and I was not treated with the type of customer service I'm used to. more

Nice quality furniture - but horrible customer service 9/24/2005

If you are a VIP than this is the store for you. They have a nice selection of furniture but the staff seems to only cater to clientele that appears to be wealthy (although they apparantly can't tell who really is). Their customer service is also pitiful on the delivery end as they do not stand behind the products they sell - if they don't meet the expectations fo the buyer. The meaning of 'satisfaction guaranteed' does not apply here. There are plenty of high-end furniture stores in the area, so one need not deal with poor customer service. more
