BEWARE!!!!! I went to The Colonie Diner tonight for dinner and got Chicken Vista which is a chicken breast stuffed with broccoli and mozz cheese. After eating 6-10 bites I noticed that the inside of the chicken breast was completely raw!!!!! I should have noticed sooner but was I was talking with my companion and didn't until I consumed about 1/4 of it. When I say raw, I mean completely RAW. The waitress took it back and I ordered a roast beef sandwich instead (which by the way I couldn't eat because I lost my appetite). Of course they refused to comp my meal and when I addressed it with the manager/owner (older Greek lady) she made no apologies but instead waved her hand in my face telling me that I shouldn't worry because it wont make me sick! I had a friend that was served raw chicken years ago and he had to have 1/2 his intestines removed and came very close to dying! YOU CAN'T SERVE RAW CHICKEN .. IT WILL KILL SOMEONE! And, they have the nerve to still charge me for my meal! DO NOT go here....even if it was an isolated case, the fact that the owner treated me like it was my fault and was waving her hand in my face telling me I wont get sick from raw chicken tells me that that they could care less about their customer's and the HEALTH of their customers. I WILL be contacting the NYS Department of Health as well. One last thing, I was raised in a restaurant. My family owned a diner in Niskayuna, NY for nearly 20 years, so I know the business and know how the Health Dept. monitors stuff like this. I surely hope that I don't wake up in the middle of the night tonight dealing with the after effects of consuming RAW CHICKEN! BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!! more

EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!! 11/10/2011

Here's an experience I had today at the Colonie Diner: I ordered a Rueben sandwich without the bread. I got the sandwich and it had no cheese, so the waitress brought it back to get the cheese. Well, I got the sandwich back with the cheese and a bonus, a nice black hair. By now, my waitress is fuming at the cooks. So now she tells me I'm getting a whole new order...Oh I got a whole new order, plus a DEAD FLY under the corned beef!!! Accident? You decide. I would've accepted the black hair being accidental, but CLEARLY the black fly wasn't. You'd think the manager would have fired the cook on the spot but she didn't offer any consolation whatsoever. She completely brushed me off, totally ignoring the magnitude of the incident. Think twice before you send your food back into the kitchen for any reason. You might just get the special sauce from the disgruntled cook. I guess it really happens! My advice: avoid the Colonie Diner if for no other reason than this story. In this internet age, you'd think the manager would be smart enough to know how fast word of mouth spreads. more

DONT EAT THERE 8/20/2011

This has to be the worst place ever, I will never eat there again! When I walked in I noticed the place smelled like urine. It was so bad I complained to the staff and they told me it was the glue from them remodeling ?.. yeah ok! The soup was nasty, my sons spaghetti tasted like watered down ketchup and the meatball wasn?t even chewable. My mother and I both got the hot roast beef and the meet tasted like dog food. The mashed potatoes tasked like they were sour and when we complained the man at the desk said to never come back. He said everyone else ate the potatoes today and we seem to be the only ones with a problem, and he still made us pay!!!!! We refused to pay for anything other then the soup and the salad. Take my word for it NEVER EAT HERE!!!!!! Go to Farmer boy down the street food is much better and staff /owner is a pleasure. more

Hits the spot! 3/29/2009

Have been here twice in the past month. We are always seated promptly and the wait staff is friendly and polite. The menu has a lot to offer, so there will be something for everyone. Breakfast served all day!! YEAH!! The food comes quickly, the portions are generous, and everything is delicious. It's even decorated like an 50s diner, with chrome and neon lights. Some of the booths even have juke boxes. Good times! The only con I could think of was that some of the ceiling panels might need to be replaced... don't look up. Very worth it! Pros: Food, service, prices, menu variety Cons: Not many more
