Best cut ever Pros: Professional

Worst

Hands down, the worst salon i have EVER been to. i swear that the guy who cut/colored my hair has NEVER done hair before. 1 hour to apply color, sat 45 minutes, 1 hour to COMB OU...

Editorial review from Citysearch 3/28/2014

I've been getting my nails done by Lisa for the last 10 years and would absolutely not go to anyone else. She is by far the best manicure and pedicure in the city, and I am quite the perfectionist when it come to my nails. I love the ""No Chip"" manicure!! No matter how busy Lisa is, she somehow manages to be very accommodating with fitting people in. I am the queen of last minute appointments, and even if she only has 30 minutes, she'll still do a flawless job. I've also gotten my hair blow dried and styled by Gabby a few times, who is also fabulous. The best part about Colin of London is that once you go there, you're like family. The owners, Colin, Cleo and Lisa are unbelievably cool, always happy and make you feel more than comfortable. What can I say, I always enjoying my visits there. more

get the no-chip! 8/9/2009

I got a cut and a no-chip mani here this weekend. Paul did my hair and although I felt like he did it a bit too quickly it turned out well and I'm satisfied with it. Lisa told me about the new no-chip manicures that she does and I sprung for that. I've only had it one day and it seems like a pretty neat product if it's as good as she says. Only time will tell. I'm not really used to paying $60 for a hair cut and $40 for a mani so I kind of doubt that I'll make this a regular spot until i get some sort of big raise in the future. If you're not worried about cost this seems to be a good salon that will take good care of you. Pros: no chip nail treatment is great Cons: price more

Excellent, attentive service, great results 7/6/2009

I have been coming to Colin of London for 14 years and even though I live in DC, I still come here. Great cut and highlights I always get compliments for, and at a wonderful value. Plus you can't beat how wonderful the whole staff is -truly a treat to go! more

Warm enviorment, you never want to leave 7/2/2009

I've been coming here off and on for 20 years and I feel like family. Which is how Colin, Cleo and Lisa have taken care of me since day one. The sofa is the best place to be. 30 minutes there and I've forgotten all my worries. As for services Colin still cuts my hair. I have also had the hairs on my ears lasered off and 4 months later still no hair. It really works. See you there. more

Love my hair 7/1/2009

I was referred to Gabriella last year by a friend and have returning ever since. Her cut and colors are always consistant and she is very sweet. The atmosphere is upbeat and family-like. Sometimes it's hard to park so I would suggest public transportation. more

horrible 8/8/2008

Hands down, the worst salon i have EVER been to. i swear that the guy who cut/colored my hair has NEVER done hair before. 1 hour to apply color, sat 45 minutes, 1 hour to COMB OUT HAIR and about 2 minutes to trim, pretty sure he had no clue how to cut hair. it was a horrible experience and i will never go back. Pros: near designer stores Cons: everything was horrible, not one good thing to say. more

NEVER go here!!!!! 8/12/2007

I am glad to see several of you agree with me. This place is by far THE WORST SALON IN CHICAGO!!!! They think that just because their two blocks off of Mich Ave that they can just rip people off. Well it didnt work on me! My bf bought me the street package. The girl who did my hair was nice. I tipped her waaaaaay to much though! After I left the salon I realized I had a dark ring of dye stain on my scalp by my face that she tried to cover with bangs! Lazy! ... couldnt even finish the job. I was there for 4 hours or more, and got treated disrespectfully the entire time. The nail lady and the waxing lady did a half assed job. Then in the end, after paying $65 for the card that covers ""everything"" , they still tried to charge me an extra $230!!!!! I was really confused and just paid the money. Only to go back the next morning and demand my money back. This place is THE WORST!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: NOTHING Cons: EVERYTHING more

Horrible Service 10/9/2006

I bought the street package as well, which consisted of a hair visit and a nail visit. Both times the staff was rather rude, and acted as if I was imposing on them by showing up for my appointment. I was satisfied with my haircut, it was a young girl who cut and colored my hair, and she was nice and did a good job. The nail visit was terrible. Although my manicure turned out fine, the service was once again horrible. I was once again treated as they were doing me a favor by honoring my appointment. The staff was very rude and seemed to only care about the ritzy ""regulars"" whos appointments I seemed to be imposing on, based by the way I was shuffled from chair to chair, and they spent less than 15 mins on my manicure. NEVER AGAIN! Pros: Decent Skill Cons: Horrible customer service more

GOT A STYLISH HAIR CUT THAT WORKS GREAT FOR ME 8/23/2006

WENT IN ON A RECOMENDATION AND GOT A GREAT HAIRCUT THAT IS STYLISH BUT STILL CONSERVATIVE ENOUGH FOR WORK. ASK FOR PAUL. Pros: GOT WHAT I WANTED Cons: PAUL TENDS TO BE QUITE BUSY BUT STILL GIVES YOU ALL THE TIME YOU NEED more

Happy customer 8/23/2006

I went in with a friend and decided to get a haircut. I was very pleased and sent in another friend. Pros: Good service and fun atmosphere more

Hack your own hair 8/11/2006

Bought a street package and absolutely regret it. I got highlights and a cut and could not believe what the stylist to my hair. It took almost 3 hours for her to put in a completely unnatural orange color on my blonde hair and hack my hair unevenly and without a style. I was in tears. The customer service was sub-par and the horrific experience makes me want to tell anyone who bought the street package to cut your losses and stay far far away from Colin of London. more

Great manicure. 8/3/2006

I went in the salon as a walk-in. I just needed a quick manicure and left with the best one I ever had. I never had a manicure last 10 days. I also thought the price was fair for Oak St. - $20.00. Pros: Good service more

I keep going back... 5/15/2006

I have a love hate relationship with this salon. I bought the ""street"" package a couple years ago, and was ralther pleased the first time I went in. I got lucky and landed Paul as my stylist. He gave me the BEST CUT EVER. I did have my hair highlighted there once, and it was ok. It wasn't the quality of the hightlights I didn't like; it was the color... you could hardly see them. Once I did have to wait over an hour for my 5:30 apt; and had to speak up when they almost sat his 6:30 in front of me. I tell you though; he makes my hair look great. They are pricey with color; but cuts are reasonable - it's the neighborhood I guess. Pros: Paul is GREAT Cons: busy/choatic, a bit pretentious, over-priced more

Loved the Place 2/15/2006

The staff to be very freindly and helped me pick ut an enitrely new style. They really did a great job with my new hair style and hi-lites. It was part of a promotional package I bought on the street. I must admit I was afraid at first but they put that to rest and I look forward to returning not only for the rest of my package but to use there sytlist in the future. Pros: parking accross the s, intimate Cons: kind of small more

WORST salon ever 7/6/2004

This is the single worst salon I have EVER been to. I made my appointment about five weeks earlier and called to confirm the day before. When I got there it was PACKED, and they were turning away people with appointments to take the walk-ins that a guy was bringing in off the street. After the first hour of waiting, they were trying to negotiate with me what services I had booked that I would be willing to cancel. I was convinced to cancel two services, but I was going to a black tie event and couldn't surrender the pedicure or hairstyle. The ""conditioning"" treatment left my scalp itchy and flaking for weeks. By far the rudest people I have ever met... you couldn't pay me to return to Colin of London. Pros: location Cons: , rude staff, overpriced more
