This is a great place to take out of town guests or to escape the city. I love the ambiance.

“Great place to relax and grab a bite and a beer” \r Restaurant has good steaks, and a nice selection of beer and wine, and on summer weekends different bands come and entertain guests as they relax. \r \r more

Hidden From The World 8/27/2010

Without a doubt one of my favorite road side stops in California, this fully preserved stagecoach stop features excellent food and drink and a welcome respite during a weekend getaway. Difficult to find and off the the 154 under the gorgeous Cold Spring Canyon bridge, this is a must find place, particularly on weekends when they open up the outdoors with bands and barbecue. But if you miss that fear not, the cozy inside will take you back to the wild west in with the original decor but not the food, which is some of the best, most unique ingredients. Seek it out. more

Hidden gem off the beaten path 5/20/2010

This restaurant and bar is a favorite of mine because I love places that not everyone frequents. A place that takes a drive to get to but once you get there you feel like your worlds away from home and transplanted back in time. It's an old stagecoach stop for travelers between Solvang/101 to Santa Barbara w/o taking the freeway or coast. Great spot if your into places where you don't like being seen and just integrating with the locals. Pros: Good food & great setting Cons: Somewhat hard to find.. more

Fabulous charming restaurant with fabulous food, great servers and charming atmosphere 2/26/2009

I have been going here for several years and always take out of town guests. We have never been disappoointed and my guests are enjoying the sights in Santa Barbara County. This charming quaint, rustic restaurant has brought us all joy. Our European visitors still remark about the visit and my granddaughter and friends are always ready to dine there. The prices are great, the experience is unique and it is number one on our favorites. Cheryl Simi valley more

Add To Your Romantic Experience: A Taste From The Past, Best For Brunch... 9/21/2008

If you plan of stay overnight in Solvang area after a wine tasting experience in Santa Ynez or Paso Robles wineries, or for whatever reason, you might need to complement your getaway experience with the brunch that takes you back to past.\r This historic joint serves breakfast/brunch which I would call ""An American Breakfast."" Though the food is already incredible, not to mention the cost--your eyes may open wide and your jaw might dropped, dining in this restaurant makes you feel eating with our forefathers... ha ha ha. This place is no ordinary place. You don't come here to compare food but to experience dining in one of California's landmarks--a tourist spot.\r Over hundred years ago, dusty stagecoaches stopped here at what was then know as ""Cold Spring Relay Station"" to change teams of horses and allow travelers to rest at this stagecoach stop and enjoy one of the most delicious meals in the Old West. Today the tavern (Cold Spring Tavern) is still a ""rest stop"" though now travelers arrive in more modern coaches to enjoy the food and refreshment which is still among the best in the West.\r The place is best for a little romantic experience, family brunch, or group of friends. A great place to experience the countryside after a good meal... California has great weather, so pick your day (or weekend).\r On different occasions, I came here with friends, family, and a great girlfriend. 100% recommended. Pros: Food, Ambience, Parking Cons: It's Old, So Be Careful Not To Break Anything--Just Joking more

HORRIBLE SERVICE AND FOOD 7/2/2008

I know a lot of people love this place, and my boyfriend and i went b/c of the reviews. We were so excited about it, and it was a total disappointment. The place is nicely tucked away and the outside bar seemed to be more fun than the restaurant. It took our server at least 10 minutes to even acknowledge we were there. My boyfriend's soup came luke warm, and my medium rare steak was a very well done. When I asked about it, he just gave me a look and took the food away w/o saying anything. My water was never refilled, and he never checked on us. We are not rude people at restaurants, and we were always nice, even when I had to return my steak. There was no excuse for the service that we got. It was definitely a low point of our trip, and I'm sad to say I will never return. Pros: location Cons: service, food more

Romantic setting 7/1/2008

I went there on a sunny Sunday afternoon. A music band was playing while bikers and a laid-back crowd filled the space in front of the restaurant. The vibe on the yard was amazing. Our lunch included burgers and salads. Though the eatery serves more challenging dishes as well. Finest fish meals, French quiche or sauteed medallions of rabbit are on the eatery's dinner menu. The oil lamp lit ambiance is furnished with heavy tables and ancient chairs, wooden floor and an impressive steel chandelier dangling from a dark roof. The setting is perfected by a huge fireplace while walls are covered with divers ancient items.Tableware looked kinda worn, though it might be a specific design, in order to make the setting unified. Pros: Food, ambience Cons: tableware more

Beautiful Blast from the Past 3/15/2008

This very unique restaurant is actually an old stagecoach stop, which looks and feels the part! The food is amazing, with a wide and interesting variety of wild game and other delicious entrees. Genuine decor throughout and friendly service. Beware, it is a very popular spot, so don't be in too much of a hurry. The tavern next door is a great place to grab a drink and catch some live music. A beautiful place we will return to! Pros: Great food and atmosphere Cons: Long wait more

Fine historical eatery 8/10/2006

The authentic stagecoach stop ambiance of Cold Springs Tavern makes this a worthwhile stop. Our dinner for four was $132 before the tip. The food results were mixed and the service can be slow when it is crowded. The ribs were excellent but the elk special was tough. It may be a better choice for lunch or early dinner. The trip from Santa Barbara is quite an adventure and best travelled during daylight hours for those unfamiliar with the area.\r \r tjf\r Miami Pros: historical ambiance Cons: slow service when crowded more

Cold Spring Rocks 2/22/2003

What can I say...the tri-tip sandwich is the best thing out there. The guy cooking up those things is top notch. The only detractor is the drunk bartender, I think his name is Matt. more
