Come hungry, you'll still take home leftovers 8/5/2011

I can't believe I'm the first to review. Unless people want to keep this place to themselves. Which I can understand. It's a 38 mile round trip for me from where I live in Hendersonville. I had to call for directions the first time because I don't know the northern part of Gallatin at all. It's really very easy to find though. Today was my second BUT NOT LAST visit. I get takeout for my wife and me. The servings are so large that they make a total of at least 4 meals for the two of us. This time I got two orders of ""The Cockeyed Choice"". You get your choice of THREE meats, yes, THREE plus two sides and Texas toast. (they have a 2 and 4 meat also but the 3 meat is only a dollar more than the 2). See now how we both get 2 or 3 meals from each one. I got the pulled pork, ribs, and sausages. The ribs are truly ""fall off the bone"" and the serving of 4 ribs makes it just right for a meal. I already had tried the pulled pork my first visit. There's easily enough to make two large sandwiches from one serving of the pork. The sausages are just going to be TV munchies though there's enough for another meal there. My wife loves their brisket. It is so moist and tender. Not dried out and tough. Turkey breast slices are a can't go wrong choice and the Texas Tube Steak (smoked bologna) was well over an inch thick. Are you full yet? That's not even getting into the sides. I get the turnip greens and white beans. Mixed together makes a pretty good old southern meal. Especially if you mix in some hoe cake. The Ranch House Beans are just what it says on the menu, ""a meal by itself"". (The pint size is a big meal). They have a nice spicy flavor with generous chunks of BBQ mixed in. Come early if you want cherry cobbler as it goes fast but the peach is winner too. The staff- great group of folks. Just like an old friend. Easy going, concerned you're happy, and polite. The inside is a treat just to look at the walls. SO MANY objects de art...LOL. There was a mass of cars parked outside today during lunch but don't let that keep you from stopping. There was still plenty of room inside. They have it down pretty good because there's very little wait for your food. You owe it to yourself to give them a try but just remember if you ever stop once, it will not be your last trip. PS-an order of fried pickles will feed at least 4 and are the best I've ever had. more
