Biloxi Mayor, Jerry O'Keefe saw the need for a safe harbor for his employees to save money, so in August 1973, Coastal Credit Union, formerly the Biloxi Municipal Credit Union, was chartered by the State of Mississippi for the sole purpose of meeting those employee's needs. Coastal Credit Union is a not-for-profit, democratically controlled, member-owned, financial cooperative established in 1973. The credit union provides a safe and convenient place for members to save and borrow at favorable rates of interest. Members elect a VOLUNTEER Board of Directors and Committee Members who oversee the general operations of the credit union on behalf of the membership.
