A Library Grows In Coralville 7/6/2006

Kind of like a"A Tree Grows In Brooklyn" isn't it? Well that is exactly what is taking place in my town. I was here 20 years ago when the city library was in a commercial building just up the street from where I live now, but it was small and the city had outgrown it so land next to the city complex was secured and the present library was built. It seemed so airy and spacious and would serve the community for years. Well it has, but like children outgrowing their clothing, Coralville has outgrown it's Public Library. A new phase has begun and ground has been broken for a huge expansion of the current library building. See this link to red all about it.http://www.press-citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060706/NEWS01/607060315/1079 I won't like the inconvenience during construction but it will truly be a wonderful facility when completed. So, I guess I can truly say,"A Library Grows In Coralville." more

I Love the Coralville Library! 4/6/2006

Having had a disappointing morning at another area library, I decided to wander over to the Coralville Public Library to redeem my day. What a pleasant experience. The staff are always friendly and actively try to get to know the people that use the library. Several of the librarians know myself, as well as my children's names. The children's librarian really seems to enjoy working with the kids, toddlers, and babies. It's a fairly small library currently, but they are in the midst of an expansion. I can't wait! Because of the expansion, parking is a more difficult than it was in the past. Please be patient, I have such great hopes for this library. If you get a chance to visit this library, I really think that you'll be pleased at the fantastic staff and the service they provide! more

Coralville Library......a treasure trove of legends and lore! 11/21/2005

Being a Coralville resident for over 15 years now, I have found myself on more than one occasion using this library. As my kids have grown up they have joined summer reading groups, been to “story hours” and been active in teen reads and other activities offered by the library. The selection is really nice here….the staff keeps abreast of the newest of books. The shelves are heat, clean and full of many copies of the most favorites of every reading age and one of my personal favorites…the Iowa Suggested reading list books are available on a year long basis and are kept on a separate shelf for the young readers to find and enjoy. In combination with the local schools, the library encourages readers of all levels and offers incentives and encouragement as well. They are in the midst of great re-modeling/addition building project at this time (November 2005) so parking is not as available as usual but I encourage you to be patient. The new addition is going to be wonderful and will offer so much more for the ever growing community that it is in fact worth the inconvenience now, for the vast offerings in the near future. Check out this library and get one of their little “coral” colored cards…and let the reading adventure begin! more
