DO NOT LIVE HERE. 8/22/2011

No I am not a competitor, I live there right now in fact. Until the end of the month anyway. I wish I would have believed the reviews before I moved in.In the past year of living there, the copper piping in the bathroom, both bedrooms, and in the living room, have burst FIVE times. This required a repair crew each time for a week each time that cut huge holes in the drywall, pulled up the carpeting, and we had to live there with these noisy blowers and dehumidifiers running 24 hours a day. I have about 50 pictures of all this by the way if you would like to see them. As if that isnt enough, the garbage disposal works but if you use it, the sink will back up. If you cook, the fire alarms will go off, people will party until all hours of the night and vomit outside your door, and urinate on cars in the garage. The walls are RIDICULOUSLY thin, and you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the next apartment. The maintenance staff there are a bunch of good guys, but the rest of the staff just radiates "Bitch" wherever they go, and pretty much do not give a crap if you have problems with anything. As far as they are concerned, if you dont like something, move out. They have no problems replacing you. When you go in to sign the lease they are all SUPER nice and welcoming, but after that... screw you. The office staff is made up of low rent, bitter, Stuck up, trailer trash that thinks they have more authority than they do. Great location, but its not worth all the other crap. Do not live here. You have been warned. I wouldnt have even rated this at one star but the website made me. more

ABSOLUTELY MOST HORRIBLE APARTMENT COMPLEX I'VE EVER LIVED!! 1/11/2011

I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO MY WORST ENEMY!!! City Lights is absolutely the most horrible apartment I've ever had the displeasure of living in. Our problems started DAY ONE. We were rudely awaken by the sound of our upstairs neighbors having extremely loud sex for all hours the night. Unfortunately, this wasn't an abnormal occurance. We complained every single time and the management refused to do anything about it. I started having to sleep with my tv and fan on and earplugs in....and would continue to be woken up!!! The walls are SO thin, you can literally hear people talking. Our neighbors would scream at each other in the middle of the night and still, nothing would be done about it. On top of that, our rent was extremely expensive for the small one bedroom that we rented. We faced the main road and heard fire engines and police cars all night long. We paid extra rent to have a refriderator...which broke twice, leaving all of our new groceries to go bad. We stupidly signed a year lease and after 4 months of no sleeping I demanded that we be let out of our lease early or I would get a lawyer involved. Once that was threatened, we finally got let out of our lease. We moved out a month ago and just now recieved our deposit check...which was promised to arrive after 21 days. We literally scrubbed every inch of the apartment before move out...and still they took out $300 from our deposit...the nerve! My experience was nothing short of horrible and quite honestly left me a little bit traumatized since now I'm always afraid that I will be forced to lie awake listening to my neighbors have sex. I wouldn't live at City Lights again if rent was FREE! more

Nothing to write home about but does the trick 2/8/2010

My husband and I have had our fair share of apartment living and have to say, City Lights isn't so bad. You have to realize one thing, you are living in an apartment! The staff here are a hit and miss...some know what they are doing but most don't. We've never had any theif done to us personally but have seen the cops around during out 10 months here. It's a definite problem b/c you have people coming in and out, trust me the gate does nothing here. People sit in their car waiting for someone with a gate opener to come through and just follow them in, that happens to me every other day! The walls are thin and you do hear everything, we would here the guy below our apartment snore every night but it's an apartment...what do you expect? Beside the negatives, I have to say it's very convenient to the shopping center, just right outside the apartments. Also, we lived on the 4th floor in a previous model apartment...it was a lot nicer than the other ones. Plus the ceiling is higher giving you a very open feel. Along with living on the fourth floor, you have a lot more open guest parking spots. The only down side to being on the top floor...it takes 3 minutes to drive all the way down to the street and if you are behind someone who brakes at all the speed bumps, then never mind! Overall, I would rent again from here since my experience wasn't bad. But I am glad to be out of this place and moving into my new house! Pros: Location Cons: Noisy more

HORRIBLE!! DO NOT MOVE HERE!! 11/30/2009

first of all, if you dont want to get woken up by the fact that the walls and floors are SO thin that you can hear your neighbors VIBRATING cell phone going off.... and if u dont want to risk your life everytime you get into their unserviced elevators, i wouldnt suggest it.... but MOST OF ALL, if you dont want to be treated like a CRIMINAL once a month when you walk in to pay your RENT....i would STRONGLY recommend against it. im not the first to hear this, but i didnt think it would happen to us. whether its me, or my boyfriend, or my neighbors, the management smiles and nods their head with the biggest fake grin you will ever see. they take NO responsibility for anything and will raise your rent astronomically if you DARE stay..... dont do it. trust me, ive lived in 5 other apartment complexes... this is the only one id ever think about reporting! Pros: nothing!! NOTHING!!! Cons: the management is absolutely horrible, no sound proof at all more

Shitty Lights Is Gangster 11/10/2009

This place's "Security" allowed my car to get broken into TWICE within a month and a half. Could it be the night security guy doing this? All I know is this place sucks. You are better off renting someplace in Via Lomas for half the cost. Pros: Close to restaurants Cons: Gangster thieves and drug dealers more

Previous Reviewer is a Bitter Nag -- City Lights is WONDERFUL! 12/31/2008

City Lights is beautiful and has great services such as an awesome fitness center with Yoga and Kick Boxing instruction. Their pool and spa are like a beautiful Las Vegas Resort! My friends have lived there for years, and I have peacefully spent the night at their place several times without incident. The apartments are well-constructed and my friends have the most amazing view of the Saddleback Valley from their 4th floor balcony. If I ever sell my condo, I'm moving to City Lights. Pros: Beautiful apartments, great amenities Cons: People drive too fast in the parking garage more
