Best

I've been surfing Grand Street for about a year. I end up down there for meetings or just to have fun with friends and always end up in Tower Grove for Saturday soccer. Anyway, I ...

Dig Daddy eats Burgers here Too! 8/7/2002

The Big Daddy Burger here is my favorite burger in Saint Louis. Make sure you bring your appetite, it is BIG. Burgers are part of the comfort food scene, and so iis anything else you buy here. Sure the wait is sometimes obnoxious, but watch the locals, and the staff. it's part of the experience. The beef is fresh and the fixin's are great. Try an side of breakfast potatoes instead of fries for a change. If you add a malt, you certainly will be ready for anything. South City Diner is Family and all the good Homes things I liek about this town. Pros: Food, customize your choice, Family feel Cons: service sometimes slo more

Bread Co. eat your heart out! 8/6/2002

Locals love it for a reason. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere is, well, South City. Who on earth would pick Bread Co. over this?!? Pros: Goot eats, Bargain prices, Locale Cons: Lack of parking more

MARGARITAS IN THE MORNING....AHHH! 7/30/2002

It is a rare thing to have your breakfast omlette served with a margarita in the morining, but, if your just coming off that long night shift and want to unwind at a cozy place before you draw the curtains on the daylight world this is the place to do it. quick efficent service, an eclectic staff of friendly folks, and mixed drinks at 7am when they open. The morning parking is easy and the food is a great value. recomend the Greek Omlette with feta and spinich. more

Comfort Food in an Eclectic Setting 7/27/2002

I remember when this place used to be 'Pearl and Ray's Restaurant.' All the ambiance of a street-level counter/booth restaurant is retained, with a solid menu of comfort food favorites. Best of all, you can supplement your comfort food choices with any of the more contemporary offerings if you prefer. more

GOOD LUCK 7/26/2002

On a hung over morning, it's right there, so we go. As soon as we get there we remember we said we'd never go there again. It's so hard to find a spot to park, no big deal. But damn, why won't he train his 'waitresses.' This is the only place I have walked out of because we sat there for 20 minutes and only got water. No service. And we were one of four tables full! It's a joke how bad it is. And the owner just walks around looking all proud. He needs a cattle prod. There is one good waitress there, if you're not in her section, you're screwed! Pros: good food, great location, great customers Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE, BAD PARKING, BAD BAD SERVICE!! more

Great for breakfast! 7/24/2002

South City Diner is a great blend of good, ol' fashioned diner with a little bit of gourmet cuisine. Best for breakfast -- don't miss the fried potatoes. The atmosphere is eclectic, as is the clientele. Pros: great food, fun atmosphere Cons: sometimes crowded, spotty service more

IF you can stand the smoke it's all good 7/18/2002

Good service , good food reasonable prices and the best blueberry pancakes around! Pros: Price, Variety, Quality Cons: Smoke, Smoke, Smoke more

East Village meets South City! 7/11/2002

This is a favorite place for me and my friends to hang out on the weekends, whether it's just to have a few cups of coffee, or start recovering from a hangover. The most outstanding thing about this place are the waiters/waitresses! They're always friendly, and they're all just so cute in their unique way! Pros: Staff, Location, Location!, Expanding soon! Cons: Parking, Smoking allowed, French toast changed more

Service is weak 6/26/2002

I've eaten there three times since moving to the city. Got three different waitresses, and none of them wrote down my order. Is it banned? Two of them got my order wrong. The third time I went, there were few people dining but it took a half hour to get an omelet. They ask you to wait to get seated and keep you waiting. And waiting. The food is above average but am getting tired of the poor service. more
