Circles Grill

My husband & I have dined here about 3 times in total and one time with a group of friends. This place first and foremost doesnt have good service. Another problem is that i've felt that the food is simply made very poorly. For example i ordered a steak salad and what i got was some salad with microwavable steak pieces/chunks that you can buy from costco, they are premade and prepacked & i could tell they werent fresh at all.That was probably one of the biggest turn offs in this restaurant. Overall i just dont feel that if you have the time or money that this is the restaurant to go to.Another time my husband & our friends dined there and after we paid the bill, we were harassed outside of the restaurant for not leaving a tip. we had CLEARLY LEFT A TIP...more than enough actually. It turns out the waitress and other workers had trouble adding. I just dont feel that this is a real restaurant after my experience of clearly being served costco premaid, frozen beef strips, sorry i could make a much better salad @ home. me and my husband have been dining here every friday night for the past 5 years...never received a problem and everyone is always willing to lend a helping hand...the wait staff goes over the top to make sure the customers are completely satisfied. In those 5 years we have seen our share of impossible to please customers that have become the new faces of bay ridge in recent years. of course restaurants have their everyday problems but when it comes to Circles Grille if theres a problem its addressed first hand...and the only problem we see are the stuck upp new generations who rather eat tofu then mignon. If your looking for a place that doesnt mind screaming children..or the workers always have a smile...circles grille is well rounded. The specials are always delightful, theres a varitey of drinks, food, and desserts. so next time you are looking for FATTENING OR HEALTHY MEAL try circles!!! I don't know which is worse, the waitstaff that fools around all the time and NEVER checks on their tables or the hour long wait for food when there are only 3 tables in the joint. This restaurant is deteriorating FAST. I have completely stopped going there for several reasons. I mentioned some above, but I think the creepy owner guy and the lunatic ""manager"" take the cake. I've even seen them screaminng at each other in front of customers. I don't know who is worse. Every time I've gone their somethng has gone wrong. Get some new people in their. I don't even know where to begin. NO ONE EVEN LOOKED IN OUR DIRECTION TO CHECK ON US and there were barely any customers there. My husband and I were so frustrated that we had waited AN HOUR for food, we just gave up and left. At one point, the waitress actually came over to ask us (with the most incredibly unprofessional manner) WHAT we had ordered as if she had no idea - don't you people write it DOWN??? Food took 90 minutes to get here, even though I was told 40 minutes when I asked. Everything I ordered was bland. Not salty, not spicy, no flavor whatsoever. Will never order from them again. more

The service is good, the food is fresh and the drinks are strong, not watered down. I've been going to Circl'es to years, and its a great place to have good food at a decent price and enjoy a meal with friends or family. Prices are reasonable. Even when its busy, you don't get the feeling that you're being rushed out. Biggest drawback-there aren't enough bathrooms because the place is busy. Bread is yummy, but sometimes its cold. Pros: its casual and good food and drinks Cons: more bathrooms needed more

Those first two reviewers must either 1) work there, or 2) have not gone to Circles since they reviewed this crappy restaurant several years ago. I used to go there all the time, but the last time I went it was horrible! The food is no longer fresh, and the service is the WORST I've EVER experienced. Like another poster, I ordered a sandwich that was supposed to come with a side salad, and it never came out! When I asked the waitress about it she was rude, and I spoke to a manager as well, who tried to tell me that it doesn't come with salad, even though I pointed it out on the menu to him! I told him that if that's their new policy they should change the menu to reflect it, and he just said ""Yeah, ok lady, whatever."" Come on people, it's just a few lettuce leaves and a couple of tomatos! Sandwhich was not worth $9 on its own. Then I had to wait f-o-r-e-v-e-r to get my check. Just not worth it. There are plenty of other restaurants on 3rd Avenue in Bay Ridge (Tuscany Grill, Samm's, Dish, Fontana Sushi) where you can get a great meal for a comparable price and decent service. I went their a few months back and the service is atrocious. Trying to get your check felt like trying to ask for directions in a foreign language (good luck to you). The waitressing staff talks more to their boyfriends then paying attention to the customers (and there was hardly anyone there!). Their food is below average. We ordered a Cobb Salad and the lettuce was not fresh, the chicken was dry and tough, and the avacado was not cut properly, hard as a rock, and not edible. I didn't bother to ask for a new plate. Maybe that was my fault but it's Bay Ridge, someone might do something to the new dish! I thought, 'Maybe it was a bad night'. Everyone has a bad night so I tried ordering in. I regret that. It took them 45 minutes to put together a taco, an order of ""bayou wings"", and another salad (why, I don't know) and the experience was just as horrible - even in my own home! The taco looked like something from Taco Bell, the salad was as bad as my first experience, and the ""bayou wings"" tasted like those frozen buffalo wings you find in the supermarket. Their take out menu is wrong - a side salad was ""suppose"" to come with the taco dish. When we ordered, we even asked them if it came with a side salad and they said yes. In fact, their take out menu says that too. When the food arrived, no side salad for the dish. We called them back and had to speak to three people - the first one had no idea, the second one was as clueless so they got someone from the kitchen. That person from the kitchen told us that we were wrong, no side salad came with it. What we were told was that the ""side salad"" was the lettuce and tomato filling for the taco! Nov 14th, 2006, my 12th anniversary and always spent at Circles Grille, location of our first date. The service and food and sunken below repair and I give up entirely now. Inattentive wait staff and mediocre food. You'll spend more time waiting for a server, a drink, your meal or your check than anywhere else in Bay Ridge even with hardly any customers inside. The food is not worth waiting for, so find somewhere else. Not spending my 13th anniversary here. What a shame. It's been declining rapidly over the past couple of years. Probably won't be around in 2007 unless the waitstaff and ATTITUDE are overhauled. Hello........? New Management???? Pros: Window seating if the tables are bussed, or clean them yourselves. Great variety of options, great prices, lots of healthy choices. Cheerful, if harried, service. Great place to order ahead and pick up on the way home from work or running errands. The grilled vegetable platter is sublime, as are the spicy chicken noodles. more

The Circles group of restaurants scores again with this casual restaurant (incidentally, the first Bay Ridge restaurant I ever ate in). Quality is top notch and the ratio of portions to the dollar is excellent. I recommend coming here for lunch, although it is a popular dinner spot as well. more
