This place was highly recommended and the only one who would accept our group at the last minute. They did everything that they could to accommodate us and all I can say is I'll definitely be back as it is on my list of new favorites in SB. more

I was there last night with a group of old college buddies (and gals) and we had a blast. Were there til late and nearly closed the place. Didn't want to leave. Food, entrees, apps, drinks (and service) by far exceeded our expectations. Gave a HUGE tip!!! more

A group of us were there last night and totally jazzed about the food, and the service. It was light a breath of fresh air! Finally, one of our friends in the group looked up the reviews and we were all astounded by the reviews of this place and what some people complain about or say - as ""chronic"" complainers or just bad attitudes. We all decided to get together and let people know who are looking for the best places to go in SB about this place. The lighting is low, it's romantic if you're looking for intimacy, or it's a great place to take all your family or friends, like we did. We were thrilled will the food and loved hanging in this place. The service couldn't have been better, and before we were seated? The bartender was even awesome. more

If you're looking for the best kept secret in Santa Barbara, a place to get away from the tourists and go where the locals go to enjoy the best food, ambiance and service (and drinks) this is the place to be. Excellent seafood and steaks and other entrees that are superb in quality. Highly recommended. more

Neither my date or I were impressed with Chuck's. I really don't know why people rave about their salad bar --- it was mainly ice-berg lettuce with picked-over containers of other things, including brown-ish sprouts. And I'd like to see them get real menus, instead of having to read their items silkscreened onto a wine bottle --- and I'd prefer to read what the ""specials"" (ie halibut) are (and how much the cost) instead of having the listen to the waiter. If you like super-salty food, you'll love the rice here --- I don't, so I couldn't eat it. The accoustics and seating (chair arms prevent you from getting close to the table) should be improved. Overall, seemed rather expensive for the quality of the food and ambiance. Pros: parking more

The steak at Chuck's was very very tender...but it lacked flavor. The service was good. The drinks were excellent. The ambiance could of used a little work. The menu had more seafood options than steaks. Prices were a little high for what we receive. But as long as you come prepared with your own seasonings, you might leave happy. more

Great steak and salad bar! Service can leave a little bit to be desired on busy nights. We have eaten at many steak houses in Santa Barbara (& in US), but you will have to go to South Africa to find a steak that equals theirs. I also recommend the salad bar. The cocktail bar has a nice atmosphere for pre-dinner drinks, or if you have to wait for your table. Make sure you go to the State Street branch and NOT the waterfront...the newer, waterfront restaurant (besides the location) was disappointing all around (& no salad bar). more

Chuck's has the best steak & prawns I have ever tasted! And the best baked potatoes in town! more
