Everyone was pleased 4/26/2012

Took our son (a student at a local university) to an early Sunday dinner. There are VERY few nice places to go in this area. We were seated quickly, and had a very pleasant waiter. The restaurant offers two menus, Chuck's Steak House and Margarittas Mexican. My husband and I both had cheeseburgers off the Chucks menu. Daughter had fish tacos, son had Burrito Grande from the Mexican menu. Everyone was pleased. We were seated in the upstairs dining room that had a gorgeous cathedral ceiling. more

If you're a student at UConn then you've probably already visited this famous establishment. Just a couple of miles down the road from UConn lies Margarita's (which is a chain restaurant). Located in an old barn (complete with silo) they offer both American and Mexican cuisine. One wednesdays expect a wait because it is 2 for 1 entrees with a student ID. The food is pretty good and the Margaritas are great (Lime in the coconut). Great place for large groups! Pros: Atmosphere/Drinks Cons: Service can be slow more

Nice place 4/17/2006

I have been coming here for years. And we keep going back even though we have only one real complaint, the service. Majority of the time the service is lacking, and it could be for a variety of reasons. But it isn't enough to stop us from going back. The food is good, I usually dine from the Chuck's menu while my husband chooses the Mexican dishes. Our little one enjoys it, and plan on spending a chunk of change if you choose to dine there. But their drinks are good, their food is good, their desserts are great, and it is a nice atmosphere. Pros: food, drinks, atmosphere Cons: service, crowds more

The Killer Tuna 2/5/2003

I was happy to see that Chuck's Steak House was rated high! My favorit location is in Rocky Hill. The have the best Killer Tuna! I don't know why people have such a hard time with it being dark. I think it is actually quite refreshing to go into such an authentic steakhouse. Also, there is a room that you can use for private parties & they don't charge you! Pros: Loyal Staff, Great Seafood, homemade desserts Cons: has a smoking section, Allows Cigars at bar, isn't open for lunch more

Chucks I found is highly dependent on who the cook is that is on that night. But if you get a good cook their filet is the best around. Pros: Salad Bar, Good Cut of Meat Cons: Qual too dep on chef, Little pricey more

ABSOLUTELY GREAT PRIME RIB. NOT CHEAP, BUT YOU DEFINATELY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. SOMETIMES THE COLLEGE AGE WAITSTAFF IS A LITTLE SLOW ON SERVICE, BUT OVERALL A GREAT PLACE. more
