So we've been waiting for a small shop in Tobyhanna to open for a few months now. A while back, I saw a new marquis labeled "Chubby's Texas Wieners" and got sooo excited. Well...months later, FINALLY, the little "Open" sign was lit! I called my husband and we decided to try it that night.
It's a very clean, sort of fifties diner type place. Perhaps a car motif, I don't know, I'm a woman and not that aware of it, but my hubs did say "It's like a man's diner". Whatever. The staff was so friendly, very pleasant to find in any establishment!! The two front people were really stellar, a young woman and young man, kudos to them for five star customer service.
Cut to menu. Not big, at all. Wieners, burgers and (of course) cheese steak sandwiches. Yum! I ordered two wieners (didn't know they were foot long!!) and my husband ordered a double cheese burger, fries, all to go. We got home and I dove into my relish dog and chili & onion dog. Great!! Huge, and great. We unwrapped my husbands burger (and he was ready to be grumpy after pay about 8 bucks for a burger, he was waiting for it to suck)...and whoa. It was a monster! Two HUGE patties with white cheese, it was massive. I can't even guess the weight. Totally worth the price, even if it wasn't great. But...it WAS FANTASTIC!!!! Best burger, bar none, in years and years. We've lived in four different states in the past six years, and this one blows any burger I've had in any state away. I was so jealous of his burger!
He only actually ate 1/3 of the burger; we're both big eaters, and he was starving but it was sooo filling....and so mouthwatering, juicy, perfectly beefy with the absolutely right cheese....I am drooling a bit as I write.
Their fries were ok, probably will get better with time, the chili on my dog was very different, spiced with cinnamon and other interesting things; great on it's own but I'd probably not get it again on my dog.
I like their wieners, but I LOVE their burgers.
Go here. You will NOT be disappointed.
