Best

Best French Toast in Oregon, maybe the world.

Worst

On June 25, 2009, we had lunch at 11:45 am and both of our drink glasses (Coke and Diet Coke) both had 5 or 6 drowned ants floating on top of each glass. Unfortunately we didn'...

Is anything made there? 3/18/2007

Who wrote that one good reveiw? That sounds like an owner trying to save face but still not willing to actually do any of the work associated with improving. The food is horrible, and there is nobody in the kitchen with much experience or skill. I don't beleive eight bucks an hour buys you a quality blue coller chef. You get lousy food that is overdone or underdone, and lots of FSA pre done sides. As for homemade desserts, all i see in that case is a selection from COSTCO. Please, at least make a few things in house. Finally, I really would like to see beer and wine on the menu. Not all parents want to go out and get hammered and make a scene, but we would like a drink with our meal. Honestly, it feels like a right wing owner imposing his/her beleifs. I only say these critical things because I want the place to succeed, but at its current pace, it will be a good buy on the realestate market in a year or so. Pros: Spacious dining room, average service Cons: everything else more

Good Service; Not Good Food 2/28/2007

We live in the neighborhood and were excited to see a new restaraunt open. We have only been to Christie's once, but will not likely be back. The service was good and we were seated promptly, however the food was horrible. I had the beef tenderloin medallions in red wine sauce served with mashed potatoes and green beans. The medallions were actually two thin-cut steaks so overdone in wine that they were purple. The mashed potatoes were okay, but could have come from a box and the green beans were shriveled up. I hope, for the neighborhoods sake, that Christie's can overcome these initial set backs. Pros: Friendly wait staff Cons: Food more

Eh. 2/7/2007

i visited with a friend for dinner. Upon first experience, the interior doesn't match the exterior. The prices match the exterior, but the interior fills a bit like a Denny's. I had some sort of stir fry for dinner that was, well, bland. My friend had something with biscuits, and the biscuits were below average. The prices...seem a bit crazy. The wait staff was friendly and on top of it. We took home dessert. The carrot cake was good. Pros: good wait staff, good carrot cake Cons: price price price vs. quality more

Fabulous food, prices NOT that bad, a great neighborhood restaurant 2/6/2007

My partner and I went to dinner at Christie's and had a fabulous time, a great meal, and did not think the prices too bad. I had the Prime Rib done to perfection and she had the chicken. Both dinners were very good, and not just the main portions. The potatoes (of which I am extremely picky about) were to die for. I even ate all my vegetables! Service was friendly and on the ball. I love the fact that they have a full service coffee/espresso bar. My only suggestion? I'd like to see beer and wine on the menu. Pros: Delicious food, ample street parking, great service Cons: No beer or wine on menu more

Letter to Owner 2/3/2007

Dear Owner/Chef???,\r \r When you're restaurant first opened up, I thought, ""How great, a nice breakfast place in N. Portland"" the first couple of times we went, we were always taken back by the prices but, the food was pretty good and we wanted to support a ""nicer"" restaurant close to our house but, we just started going back to our usual places. Well today, we decided to give your restaurant another try after several months and I have to say, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. \r \r I'm not a chef or a journalist but, I do consider myself a 'foodie"" and I eat out way more than I should so, I thought I'd give my 2 cents on your restaurant and some ideas I feel would make it a better business because, after all I do live in the neighborhood and would love to have another option for a good breakfast. \r \r First of all... your menu prices are apalling. If you feel you can justify those prices, I expect to see a full page bio of your executive chef on the menu. The only other place in N. Portland with your prices is Roux and you can certainly find a full bio on their executive chef. \r \r Second, the food isn't very good. This goes back to number 1... you simply can't charge those prices for the quality of food you serving. Honestly... Our Daily Bread has much better food and the prices are half of yours. I'm only being critical so, perhaps you'll hire a chef or replace yours. I had the all you can eat biscuits & gravy (I know ""all you can eat"" doesn't usually ring out ""Quality) and the biscuits were dry and lumpy and the gravy was extremely salty. My wife had the pancakes, they were flat, hard and honestly, I've made better pancakes from a box. We typically do not order these items however, everything else on the menu is simply too expensive and honestly the ingredient combinations just aren't that appealing. \r \r I hope you can see this as constuctive critisicm and use this hopefully to improve your business.\r \r \r Pros: Nice wait staff, prompt service Cons: Overpriced, limited menu, food quality more
