*We are pleased to introduce PLAY, our newly designed Recreation Guide. Since 1948, Chico Area Recreation & Park District (CARD) has been instrumental in Helping People Play. Recognizing the diversity of our community, CARD is continually increasing and developing programs that offer a variety of classes & events. Whatever your age, don't forget to have fun. Having fun is important for maintaining a high quality of life experience. Fun abounds in the CARD activities listed throughout this guide. We have redesigned the brochure in an effort to provide the community with a product that is recognizable and easier to read. Our goal is to help you find programs to meet your individual & family needs.
*CARD programs are for all ages & encourage exercise, new learning experiences, adventures & travel. Participating in positive recreational activities improves overall mental and physical health. From providing healthy snacks in our after school programs to promoting an active lifestyle, CARD recognizes that recreation and parks benefit lives. These benefits include socialization, cultural diversity and harmony, enhanced education, deters negative behaviors and strengthens community.
*Based upon a recent community survey, our customers also recognize the benefit of the serves we provide. CARD plays a vital role in the social fabric of the community of Chico and the communities adjacent to Chico. Of those interviewed, 97% agreed that the recreation services, parks, picnic areas and other resources provided by CARD are, collectively a valuable public resource. In additions, 96% agreed nearby recreational facilities, parks & picnic areas positively impacts the quality of lif e that all Chico residents enjoy.
