I recently finished playing in my 4th different Sports Monster League, and I can guarantee I will be back for a 5th!! Well run leagues, Great variety, Excellent communication!! Sports Monster provided a fun environment in which I got to participate in sports and meet new people. I've played on teams where I both new everybody beforehand and ones where I got to know them through the league, and both ways were fun and competitive. Pros: Affordability, Fun, Friendliness more

I just finished playing another season with Sports Monster, and my experience has been great. I'm a former college club soccer player and the skill level was just what I was looking for. The players were good but not spectacular, and everyone was out there to have a good time. The referees were very good, normally you get bad referees in a league like this, but ours were always professional and fair. \r \r I played at the Montrose Turf Field which was a great field and the price was very good too, especially for playing on a turf field. I really had a great time this season, and I'll definitely be playing with Sports Monster in the coming season.\r \r There are some issues with the website, but whenever that happened I would just call the office and the staff would help me out any way they could. Great job staff!\r \r I would recommend Sports Monster to any of my friends. Pros: The staff was great, excellent fields, solid competition, and fair officials Cons: The weather? New to Chicago and looking to meet new people while playing my favorite sport tennis Sports Monster knocked out both in 8 something weeks. I joined as a ""individual"" as they called it and joined me up with other individuals of the same skill level for team tennis on thurs nights. Had a great time with my team who were all easy to get along with and good players. We all started going out after the game for the free nachos the Sports Monster guy would give us coupons for (he did a good job if that matters). I have played in Softball and Volleyball leagues though Sports Monster for about 4 years now and have never had any major problems. The leagues are not always perfect but overall they did a good job of organizing and customer service as the coordinators have always returned my email questions and my phone calls and have always been helpful. There website has it's glitches and can be a pain but again I just would call the office and they helped. I would recommend playing with them and giving them a shot! more

I've played with other leagues before and by far Sports Monster gave me the least headache out of all and was the most fun. Everyone else playing was great and the staff was very good about informing us about our schedule. I heard that in the past this organization was a little sloppy but they must have since turned themselves around. I used to play softball with Chicago Sports and Social Club but their prices started to get a little ridiculous so I gave CSM a whirl since it was cheaper and continue to be pleasantly surprised. I signed up again for this summers league and look forward to it! Good people, good organization, and an overall great time! 5 stars and I got a T-Shirt! Pros: Communication, Pleasant atmosphere of people, Refs INCLUDED in price!!! Cons: Weather but who can stop that more

I guess everyone can have good or bad experiences. Our volleyball experience with Social Club this past summer was horrible while our softball experience with Sports Monster was a great time. Our questions were answered, the league handled rain dates very well and the two umpires we had during the season had ample knowledge of rules and procedures. They handed out cool league tee shirts - enough for everyone on the team and all the teams in the league made the playoffs. \r \r To be fair, we did have an issue with their summer intern returning our calls but once we talked to his manager, everything was promptly cleaned up. \r \r We are bowling with Sports Monster now and having a great time. Pros: fair price compared to other leagues, cool tee shirts, fun opponents of same skill level Cons: rain outs! - but who can control the rain? more

Sports Monster is the worst sports league I've ever seen. We payed $1000 to enter our softball team, the games are in the middle of Cabrini Green, with two games at a time on overlapping fields. They don't tell us when games are canceled, umpires show up sometimes. Our first round playoff game was not played because one of the fields was unplayable, but we didn't learn this until we arrived. Softballs supplied are ancient, I could go on and on.\r \r Stop signing up with this league, and hopefully it will go out of business. Chicago Sports Monster is ABSOLUTELY the WORST sports league in the entire city! They are the most disorganized, rude and all around dumbest bunch of people we have ever dealt with. They do not alert team captains when games are called off (the Monday before Lollapalooza, when tents were being set up - and it was 100 degrees outside). They relocated our league playoff games to Stanton Park, and when both our team and our opposing team showed up - there was no umpire - Only one, for the other game going on...This league cost just as much as Chicago Sport & Social Club and does not even hold a candle in terms of organization OR quality of teams. When you try to contact them in their office, the person, ""scheduling"" the softball leagues is not available and an overly obnoxious and truly rude girl will tell you she ""doesn't know anything"". Save your money and sign up somewhere else. Chicago Sports Monster is truly awful and I can tell you at least 20 people (from our co-ed team) and all of the other teams that have been treated terribly, would agree. Cons: Everything. The people running the league are about as bright as my shoe. more

If you want to play in a fubarred league where teams play on top of each other, they are constantly changing start times, have umpires who never move and have a general lack of appreciation for their customers, then sign up with Sportsmonster. Every year there level of service and quality of staff declines. I mean how hard is it to come up with a schedule?? It's not like it's rocket science, well wait, if you talk to them it is. more
