Chicago Cat Nannies

Laurie is apparently a compulsive liar and very unreliable. She advertises for cat sitters on craigslist and despite claiming there is a requirement for a background check, she promises ""Start immediately"" - if you don't believe me, check out her ad by searching craigslist for cat sitters in all jobs in the Chicago area She was a no-show for my first two attempts at an interview to work with her organization. She asked if I was willing to submit to a background check, but never asked me to sign a release, suggesting that she collects unreliable background data using the internet. I was sent out on an initial job prior to the completion of even a cursory background check. She pays her employees using PayPal which suggests that her employees are independent contractors and whose professional background and ""veterinary experience"" she makes no attempt to verify. While her website assures ""impeccable local references"" and that the company is ""bonded and insured"", her current business practices must make that very expensive to maintain. I would avoid this business at all cost as the owner employs very questionable business practices and deception of customers is a part of the daily routine. more

I have been using Chicago Cat Nannies for years. I have been nothing but please with them every time. Laurie is friendly, consistent, efficient and loves your pet. I always come home to a clean house and with mail organized (something that is NOT her job). She has honest and educated advice about behaviors that she sees in my cats or behaviors that I find problematic or out of the ordinary. She is educated in cat behavior (dog too maybe, not sure). She is always very quick in responding to my requests for service. I can tell that she remembers my cats by the way she talks about them. Even the mean one. She is very patient and loving despite his fear of new people. Sometimes she has her employees come if she is busy and they always do a good job. I have been able to see nervousness in my cats after previous cat caregivers, but since I have used Chicago Cat Nannies I come home to MY cats. I will use them over and over and recommend them to anyone. more

I have used Chicago Cat Nannies for a couple of years now - on many trips. I have multiple cats, each of which has a unique health condition - 1 diabetic who requires insulin injections, 1 hyperthyroid and 1 with pancreatitis (all are older). I cannot even express how comforting it is to me to know that Laurie and the other cat nannies will be looking after my babies (they ARE my children!) when I have to travel. I love them! I have used them in the past and will not use anyone else in the city. I know that they actually come and stay the full 45 minutes that they are supposed to be there. I used Chicago Cat Nannies and had a decent experience. However there were some issues (sitter showed up late and disorganized for first meeting, and didnt' really spend any time meeting the cats, and I found out later than there were two different people doing the sitting, when I thought it would be only one consistent person, as it says on the website). Chicago Cat Nannies is a blessing!! This is the first time I've ever written a review for a business service, but feel compelled to do so for this company. After several horrible experiences with other pet services in Chicago, I found Chicago Cat Nannies on Citysearch and decided to give them a call. I was very impressed with the professionalism during the initial consultation therefore hired them, but the real test was how our cats reacted to the first care visit which has resulted in many since. My husband and I could tell our four babies were well taken care of; plenty of activity play time, love and pets. What a difference it makes when the Nanny actually spends quality time with our cats (instead of a quick in-and-out visit). It's also an added benefit to come home from a trip and the furniture is free of cat hair; our Nanny tidies up for us!! The online daily blog service is awesome, providing us an in depth report on our little family during the Nanny's visit; what a wonderful way to ease separation anxiety for parents! We recently returned home from a long trip, and one of our cats who is very shy, actually sat staring at the front door waiting on her Nanny to come...we got the biggest kick out of it!!! I cannot say enough great things about Chicago Cat Nannies. They've made it possible for me to travel with my husband on his business trips, was available during a recent family emergency that called us out of state with only a couple of hours notice; providing us with continued and complete peace of mind that our little family is in the best of care. I've used Chicago Cat Nannies the last 3 times I've been out of town and I can't say enough good things about them. They have a blog where you can go online and check to see how your kitty is doing and they spend a considerable amount of time without charging a whole lot. She referred to things on the blog that let me know she really cared about my cat being comfortable with her and gave her a lot of love while I was away. She actually played with her which is way more than other companies do. I used Walk the Dog before CCN and when I came home there was litter in the toilet and all over the floors. The place was a mess, not to mention how my cat reacted when i got home. But CCN left the place spotless and gave me lots of updates online, couldn't be happier. Pros: friendliness, they love cats, cleanliness Cons: a couple bucks more than the other guys more

These nannies really have something going here. Cheaper than boarding your pet (where they sit for 23 hours a day in a box) and they get to stay home where they're happy. The nannies are very professional, and really take the time to give your pet some much needed attention. Our cat was very happy during the time we were away. The blog is awesome, and they even watered our plants for us! All in all there's nothing else like it, we have our reservations for the year! more

This is an unbelievable service. Their references are as advertised - all local professionals who swear by them. Highly professional - arrive with a clipboard, ask every question under the sun and write it down. Our nanny - Laurie, even called us while we were away to give us an update! Call me crazy, but I appreciated it! They send great newsletters and are very creative and really seem to love what they do. I got a newsletter from them tonight announcing their new Cat Blog!! You have just got to see this! It's so funny. You can actually check in everyday now nomatter where you are, and they write about what your cat did! Ya gotta love it. Prompted me to make this post.
