The highest point may only be 1,502 feet above sea level, but be prepared for a 1,000-foot climb to get there.
The heavily forested slopes are steep and slippery and require good physical conditioning. Hemlocks and oaks dominate the forest population, mixed in with countless brooks and streams including a 100-foot cascade that never fails to challenge photographers.
Ruffed grouse and bobcat are hunted in season and trout fill the streams. The forest houses only 12 campsites, so arrive early to get a spot.
