Ches Anthony's Catering

My wife and I are photographers. We covered a wedding reception at the Wendell Inn on 11-12-11. After the toasts and speeches we went looking for a place to rest our gear and ourselves, as well as grab a bite to eat. I stopped Sue, who seemed as busy as a server could be at dinner hour, and asked if she knew where the vendors are set up to eat. She asked me to stay put, and that she set us up in the back. Within a couple of minutes the very busy Sue, led us to a table by the fireplace set for two w/ folded napkins, silverware and a pitcher of water w/ glasses. Sue told us to help ourselves to the buffet and asked if there was anything else we needed. \r As a long time member of the food service industry and a long time wedding photographer , who frequents catering halls weekly. I can appreciate good service from two different points of view. Sue went above and beyond the call of duty (by today's standards for sure) and made us feel welcome. \r I would also like to mention the quality of the food was very good, and the presentation was of the food was even better. My girl and I were just at my buddy's reception last weekend (the 13th) and we had a good time. The cater did a nice job and the food was good! The place was all around pretty sweet. I'll tell you though, the place (Wendell Inn) was anything but warm. It was so cool my girl wore my jacket most of the night. The temp was good when we started to dance, move and drink! Ladies just in case, bring something to put over your strappy dresses. . .or make sure your boy has a jacket!\r Pros: Good food, good drink, good fun more

Ches Anthony recently made the food for my graduation party (yay!). The food was delicious and picking up the food was quick and easy. For my party, we had potato lasagna, a pasta and chicken fingers. My parents have ordered food from them before and I am sure they will order food from them again! :) more

Ches Anthony made my friends wedding seamless. I was the maid of honor and our night couldn't have been more perfect. The staff reviewed everything with us at the beginning of the night and kept everything on tract. The night was seamless because of the staff's hard work. The food was delicious and nicely presented. My family and I attended a gorgeous baby shower at the Garden Room on Sunday June, 7 2009. Ches-Anthony was the caterer. The food was amazing! We had lasagna, fried chicken and salads. All were unbelievably good! The hall is gorgeous! chandaleres, many mirrors and perfectly coordinated decorations. Some of us snuck out and enjoyed the other things the VIP had to offer (go carts, bumper boats, and mini golf) We all were very happy! more

Honestly, I saw some of the reviews on here and was nervous about attending a wedding at the Wendell Inn this past weekend. My fears were unnecessary. It was at least 80 degrees and humid outside while it was wonderful inside. . I actually had to go to the car and get a sweater! \r \r Other than the temperature. Everything was fabulous. I was a groomsman at a wedding at the Wendell Inn Spring of 2009 and would not recommend this place to anyone.\r \r This halls air conditioning system is a joke (window units and floor fans?). It was a warm day and the only breeze in this place was coming off of peoples backs as they left early!\r \r I felt terrible for my cousin and his wife who spent their wedding night apologizing to guests because of the heat. \r \r It was not just a little warm in this hall, it was UNBEARABLY HOT.\r \r If you want to spend your wedding night sweating like a pig and apologizing to your guests, then this is where you want your wedding.\r \r Cons: too hot, no air circulation, no air condition more

Attended a wedding in May and was absolutely shocked at the service that was provided. It was a hot day outside and even a hotter day inside the hall. A few guests actually went into their cars to turn on the AC to cool off and other guests just left. It was a shame to see because the bride and groom did not deserve that type of treatment. The Wendel Inn claims it has AC however they refused to turn it on. I asked a waitress if the AC was broken and she indicated “no, they management just refuses to turn it on” then she pointed me to a floor fan if I needed some air. This hall probably cost the bride and groom a lot of money because the ice sculptures melted within an hour and all chocolate cookies melted. Not to mention how the flowers did not hold up. If this was my wedding I would have been destroyed because of all my guest leaving right after dinner. In ten years all people will remember was how hot the wedding was so I say to you who ever is reading this review be careful when looking at this hall because it clearly shows that the owner only cares for money and not providing a special day for the bride and groom. more

My husband and I attended a wedding last summer at the Wendel Inn. We found the hall to be exquisite, luxuries and unique. The building itself is breath taking. A few weddings we attended last year were hot and cramped but this hall have plenty of space for guest to move around and of course dance! This was one of the nicest weddings we have ever attended. We ate, drank and danced the night away! more

I work for a company that uses Ches-Anthony to cater our office events. They’re service has been outstanding. I am the one in charge of the planning and I never have to worry about food for the party! They always help me put together my menu and the food is always a success. \r \r I also used them for my Wedding in 2003 and they did a beautiful job! We were married at The Wendel Inn, which was both beautiful and large. As always, the food was outstanding. They even did a custom ice carving for me (made from a token that had much symbolism to my family). They give you nothing but the best! We had our wedding one year ago at St. Saint Pamphilus. We had a fantastic time! The food was amazing and the hall was nice as well. The catering staff was exceptionally accommodating (and my family has some major allergies) and nice. The cost was also reasonable. We have since booked my daughters first birthday party at the Garden Room!\r I was just reading the other posts and was so shocked because we had such a different experience! All our guest had a great time and everyone raved! Possibly sounds like you had some hall problems . . .not really catering problems. We attended the Colasante/Chiodo wedding on May 23 and have never been so appalled at the discomfort afforded the guests! The heat in that building was sooo oppressive that people left immdediately after dinner. Although it was a buffet, you were told to pick one or the other in the buffet line..in addition...the women scolded my husband about eating the fruit, as it was a decoration, I guess! This was absolutely the most uncomfortable night of our lives...anyone with health issues could have seriously become ill..the cookies were actually warm and melting and the ice sculpture was nearly unrecognizable by the close of the evening! My husband and I have given two weddings for our children and I thank God I did not choose this place! If I had paid for this wedding...The parties responsible for ruining my son's wedding would be in small claims court. The families were walking around apologizing to guests and were clearly embarassed! What a shame...these affairs are a lot of work, not to mention costly...We and I am sure the other guests will make sure to advise anyone considering the Wendel Inn to run, not walk to a different hall! \r Cons: oppressive heat more

The Wendel Inn is a hall that Ches Anthony's (catering company) caters events at. It is actaully located on 2728 Custer Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15227. Ches Anthony's is located on Willet Road.\r \r Good:\r \r The Wendel Inn is a beautiful hall. Ches Anthony's does the catering for the hall & their food is very good. \r \r Bad:\r \r The hall is not handicapped accessible. There are a decent amount of steps to get to the banquet room since it's on the second floor.\r The air conditioning system needs to be updated. It seems to be that if the temperature outside is very hot then the HVAC system shuts down and won't come back on. Unfortunately this happened during our wedding reception when the outside temperature for the day was about 92 degrees. Needless to say it was extremely hot inside. The unfortunate thing is that I've heard of several other people that this has happened to as well. This is why it seems to me like this is an issue that Ches Anthony's & St. Wendelin Parish needs to resolve.\r \r So my whole point is that I don't know that I would take my chances on this hall since it's very difficult to predict that weather & you may just end up sweating your bottom off at this hall. Hopefully the problem will be corrected soon since it does include an air conditioned hall in the package.\r Pros: Good Food Cons: Questionable Hall more
