Cherrywood Nursing & Living Center

I had been advised through different persons in the hospital that Cherrywood would be a good decision of a place for my aunt to receive rehabilitation from a fall.I had signed the admit papers then met with my aunt in the room they had placed her. There was NO care of medications or any care for 5/five HOURS. I requested to speak to the head of administrator, she was "busy" and I was told to wait for her !!! The lady in the next bed had her daughter in to visit. She had assured me that the care was good there also. \r Needless to say, after confronting the head administer with excuse after excuse, we had my aunt transferred the next day. \r Note: I had informed the daughter of the other lady that as I stayed with my aunt after she had left her mother had pleaded for help. I rang the nurse call button 7 times. Then went out to the hall and yelled for help, as the women had been laying in her own bowel movement for all that time !!! more

I absolutely hated the thought of finding a nursing home for my mom because I had heard just so many horror stories about them and had formed an opinion with the things I had read and heard from others. But there was no way my mom could have done as well at home without the services offered in a nursing home that I could not provide. When Beaumont hospital had told us to try Cherrywood, I thought that it MUST be great because of Beumont's reputation. My mom had a total hip replacement and from the moment we called until we went through the doors, everything was just EASY. She stayed on a new unit I guess and this place literally looked liked a 5-star resort. My mom went from being scared to being amazed. I couldn't believe that this was a nursing home! The service was awesome, the staff was actually caring and friendly, not short and nasty, and the unit manager, Danielle, was extremely helpful. My mother was at Cherrywoor for more than 4 years. Her care was wonderful. You will always find some bad apples at any nursing home - and those that are simply 'doing their job'. I found this, but I also found many caring folks who were willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. I loved that it was on one floor, so that my Mom could go where she wanted while still mobile. Sadly, we lost her on 12/18/09, but I can't thank the folks there enough for her care. more

my relative lived there when there were scabies (twice!) Beth Seibert was an incompetent administrator, maintenance director Skip was a rude jerk and patients obviously weren't well taken care of. Three aides were fired when they posed with a dead woman's corpse. May be it is better now but I seriously doubt it. more

Really an example of looks being skin deep!\r Lovely surroundings and well kept up facility but the attitude of the staff left a LOT to be desired!\r Your local animal shelter cares more, in my opinion! more

My Grandmother lived at Cherrywood for about a year. This place was convenient because it was close to home and we could visit any time we wanted to. My Mother looked at many different places before placing her. She really liked this center because it was much cleaner and didn't have an odor like most. My Grandma was very well taken care of. They always have a diatician on staff to make sure each individual gets the type of food their body needs and can handle. The staff was super friendly and seemed to truly enjoy their jobs. PROS: Very clean and has a friendly, caring staff CONS: very expensive, like most. more
