Fantastic Fresh Seafood! 3/1/2011

Yes, there may be a wait to be seated. You may go across the street and shop at Beachcomber's and you will be called there. Or you may go upstairs to the bar and wait (if there is room). If you prefer to eat in ""off hours"", there is no wait. The wait staff is pleasant and knowledgeable and attired in Hawaiian shirts and shorts. No need to dress up in Rockport or Fulton! Here at Charlotte Plummer's you will find the freshest and most perfectly prepared seafood. I could eat here every day, and do when I am in town. I am an expert, as I have been eating at Charlotte Plummer's for years and years. It's a tradition in our family! more

Don't waste your time or money. 8/14/2009

Let's go ahead and start out with the positives... it's got a great location, and the views are great, not to mention that it's right across from the inn that we were staying at. Now, as my family and I walked in, we were greated by a pleasently smiling lady at the host podium, and were asked if we would like an inside seat, outside seat, upstairs or down? I replied that it didn't make a difference where we sat, and that we wanted the first available seats. My family of five sat in the waiting area for exactly thirty five minutes, while a group of nine, who apeared to be regulars, were seated almost immediately. As i sat, i noticed that the salad bar downstairs was disgusting, product was left out of temperature for long periods of time, and were definitely not being rotated properly. As we were seated, i noticed that the upstaris food preperation area, that from the dining area apeared to be used for drinks and appitizers, was filthy. Employees were using their bare hands, after cleaning, or handling money, to prepare and ""fix"", in a sense, food that was directly being served to customers. Upon placing our order, we were informed that the items that three out of five of us had ordered were no longer on the menu, and that there was no way to have them made. I don't remember what my family had, but i had to settle for a burger, great food to get from a seafood place. The quality of food when it was recieved, was way less expected. Nothing i had consumed that night tasted even remotely tasted OK, except my soda. Pricing was ok, but i wouldn't expect to serve this food to prison inmates, let alone the paying public. I give this place a one out of ten, terrible service, bad food, expensive for mass produced microwaved garbage, but a great location. Pros: Great location Cons: too many to count more

Food was very good. ""Red Lobster on a good day."" Nice view a small fishing harbor. My wife and I split a seafood plater and were both full. The shrimp were great. They served a tortillia soup that had me going back for more.PLeasant wait staff. We had a good time. more

Rude, Over-rated Seafood 3/21/2008

I vacationed on the coast last week for Spring Break with my mother, who has cancer. When we swung through Rockport, we made sure to check-out this restaurant which was located right on the water in this mock-New England town, but we were sorely disappointed. My mother and I had the flounder, and my boyfriend has the, supposedly, ""gigantic shrimp"" that were not, in fact, very gigantic (they butterflied them in this impossible fashion to made them look larger). The food was okay, but it didn't taste as fresh, and the vegetables were overdone and drenched in greasy butter-flavored sauce. Unfortunately, the food did not sit well with my mother, and when she attempted to leave the restaurant (feeling like she was going to be sick), she was held back because the owners thought she was trying to leave without paying. Then, when she finally made it outside, then excitement made her get sick outside of their door. When I went outside to check on her, I was greeted with dirty looks, and they thought I was trying to leave without paying (I guess we came off differently than the wealthy, elderly locals). I apologized for the situation, but they didn't say anything to us. We were delivered our check before we were done with our food (not that we wanted to finish it), and I only tipped because our waitress, who was not from the area, was very nice and attentive about our service. Including tip, I paid $95 for an onion ring starter, two flounders, and one order of bad shrimp. An hour after we left, my boyfriend and I became sick from the food we ate. One week later, I got a call from my bank because the restaurant was trying to put-through an additional $50 charge with my credit card information for a ""fee"". I rejected the charge, and I've heard nothing from the establishment. I will never eat here again. Pros: Attractive location Cons: Everything else more

overrated 7/19/2007

A nice old place on the water. Dine inside or out on a balcony. The food is good but we found the service to be weak. Our waiter was quite overwhelmed and unable to recall our requests for replacement beverages, extra tartar sauce, etc. He even forgot that there were two of us, not just one. A little pricey and a little dirty, we sat and watched trash from other tables float onto and around our table, (outside). No one seemed to care enough to even try to pick up some of it. The restrooms were also left messy. This restaurant was highly overrated in our opinion. I doubt that we'll return. Pros: decent food, on the water Cons: poor service, understaffed, trashy more
