The Scene
For the most part, the original diner has been replaced with faux-nostalgia cookie-cutter type eateries. But an example of the classic style continues on Penn Avenue in Wilkinsburg--a metal diner with curved roof edges and abundant stainless steel. There is a full counter facing the grill, where you can watch the grillman juggle a half-dozen orders at once, as well as a few booths lining the front wall.
The Food
There are delicious burgers and hot sandwiches with fries and gravy covering the entire plate. But what makes the place so popular are the delicious breakfasts served here. The grillmen cook eggs to perfection, and serve them with great homefries, just a little burnt on the edge.
