After reading several glowing reviews of The Catch (probably written by the owner ""Josh"" and his employees), we decided to give the place a try. BIG MISTAKE! When you first drive into the parking lot, the establishment looks like a cross between a plant nursery and a restaurant that's been severely damaged by fire. First impressions DO mean something here and we would've been wise to turn around and just go to Chili's instead. The second red flag we should've noticed was upon entering, our party of 5 was told it would be a 30 min wait...Despite there being at least 7 or 8 EMPTY tables in the dining area that were clearly visible. So if you don't get suckered into spending 30 min and $20-30 by walking into the attached bar area (not an option for us with a child), then there is ONE CHAIR available for everyone ""waiting for a free table"".\r \r I don't appreciate having to wait 30 min for a table when many are available...I also find it bizarre to only provide one chair for patrons who decide to stick around and wait. Such an obvious ploy to force customers to spend $$$ in the bar area before dining. So after finally sitting for our meal, I ask the waitress what's the best dish on the menu. She replied, ""Definitely the shrimp."" So I ask if she meant the popcorn shrimp or jumbo shrimp. Her answer was, ""Oh...Just the shrimp."" WOW! It's always nice to know that the help feels so strongly about a specific dish that they've actually consumed for themselves at their place of work (sarcasm here of course).\r \r So I ordered the jumbo shrimp and spent the next couple of days on the porcelain throne. Guess that's why the owner Josh says they have a WARNING about shellfish possibly being UNDERCOOKED printed right on their menu! So if you like waiting for an empty table when empty tables are everywhere, eating in a place that looks like it may collapse on you before your meal is done and overpaying for a bad case of the squirts, then The Catch will not disappoint!!! The Catch was recommended by two different friends. With friends like these as they say....\r \r At first the setting and atmosphere reminded me of a beach front seafood restaurant. The plastic window shades generated too much heat however even in only a moderately warm 5:30 P.M. The grilled mahi-mahi was good but not the best I have ever had. A sparse amount of shoestring fries were included. About one third of them were inedible because the mahi juice reduced them to waterlogged potato sticks. The garlic bread was near tasteless and devoid of any garlic flavor. My dinner date unwittingly chose the shrimp poboy that not only lacked any flavor but packed an intestinal churning wallop upon arriving home. The hushpuppies also lacked any flavor other than pure corn dough and the okra was pre-fab frozen. In fact, you?ll find better okra at a Cracker Barrel.\r The service was friendly, knowledgeable and prompt but the atmosphere was noise filled due to the surrounding hard surfaces which reflected and intensified every sound. Compounding the disappointment was the price of the fish entree. At $18.00 one should expect better flavors, bigger portions and a smarter presentation. The flies, which were a big problem all evening, especially when they rolled up the plastic windows, probably ate better than we did. We won?t be back no matter how many incentive coupons they put in the mail. Just wanted to say thanks for a great night!!! Ive been visiting you guys since you opened and my girlfriend loves your grilled grouper so Friday we were by. So we got there about 6:30 and you guys were on a wait the bartender Sarah took great care of us and set the mood ( this is important i promise ). We were sat and Greg treated us like VIPs even suggested a couple of great items - your appetizer tower and the seafood stuffed flounder awesome!! My girl wanted lobster which is not on the menu but Greg told her that it is an off menu special and I qoute "" best twin tails she has ever had!"" Night is going great!! Setting a great mood !! And thats when I did it I popped the question and she said yes!! I wanted to say thanks I knew you would'nt let me down. Best place in East Cobb for Seafood !!! Wow, just read the last two reviews did you go to the same place i did think not. Yes the place is casual and it a little loud but it reminded me of being out on the coast. Caroline was my server and she kicked #$#\r never missed a step. I had the crab dip and it was great. I ordered one the of the house specialtys ( sea bass ) wow its great. I paid a buck plus for a salad and I asked if it was right because it was huge!! We came to the catch for a birthday and had a great time , great service and left happy. Don't let their ad fool you... the ad makes this place look like a nice higher end seafood place. Instead it looks more like a rundown restaurant. It smelled of smoke, was loud - most of the noise was coming from the kitchen. The table behind us complained of taking too long to get their food. After we ordered, we were told that they were out of crab, which my husband ordered. Then they were not helpful when we asked to substitute vegetables instead of fries, after their mistake. The bill was for over 30 dollars for oysters and a fish sandwich. Too expensive for such lousy disorganized service and poor atmosphere. Pros: nothing positive Cons: disorganized, expensive, smokey, loud, not worth the time or money more

Three diners: I called and asked if they had lobster. The person that answered the phone was very courteous and retrieved a menu and said ""not any more. The menu had changed."" While I was on hold I heard their commercial about seeing menus on the website. Apparently, they hadn't changed the menus on their website yet. Lobster was still listed. We had a coupon for a Free Appetizer and on the coupon was a drawing of a lobster. The menu online was very impressive and we decided to go and see what their new menu would be like.\r One of the reviews that I read online said it was like midtown coming to Marietta. We didn't feel that. The servers and hostess were all dressed very casual which is fine. Just various t-shirts and shorts. The atmosphere was more of a fish-n-chip shack instead of a nice seafood restaurant.\r We ordered the free appetizer and the 3 of us started with water with lemon. The appetizer was crab dip with pita triangles. Too much cream cheese and not sure if it was real crab. The waitress came by and we let it go barely touched. We told her ""No wonder it was free"".\r Two of us ordered Salmon - one grilled, one with the lemon pepper option. You pick two items to go with it. One of the items is hush puppies. Then you get your plate and it comes with a hushpuppy. I wish I had known that and I wouldn't have picked it as a second option. My brother ordered the shrimp with salad and mashed potatoes. The potatoes were good, the salad fresh and the shrimp was just ok. 6 shrimp for $12. Our salmon was $15. The same price as Tilapia. Our salmon was just ok. I could've cooked better at home. I guess they lost the cook with the nice menus that were listed online. Now they have someone that isn't very creative.\r We won't be back. Oh yea, the free appetizer wasn't free. She said she forgot to tell us that we had to order a drink. She knew we didn't like it and had sent it back uneaten. \r Can't recommend it for the prices listed. We will not return. The food here is amazing! Fresh fish that is delivered daily a long with catch of the day surprises! The staff was very surprising with there friendly attitude and prompt service. One of the best things I enjoyed so much was the lounge attached to the catch called the Blue Olive. The Blue olive is very well decorated and the perfect place to take a date, hang out, or just grab a quick drink. The atmosphere was indescribale and the bartenders and staff were awesome! The drinks were preparied quickly and very moderatly priced. I went on a friday night and enjoyed listening to a DJ and dancing on the dance floor. The owner was walking around checking on his guest and told me that they have another DJ that plays on Saturday nights and a jazz band that plays on Thursdays! This place is great and I would recommend everyone I know to go there and enjoy the good times! And if you go to the blue olive, you can order the same food that they have at the Catch and enjoy the times even more!!!!!! more

I visited the catch last weekend for a friends birthday and we had a blast! We enjoyed a wonderful dinner on the patio. I had Crab legs and they were great, my friend had the Crispy Flounder and it was delicious the sauce was a great complement to the fish. The wine list was a nice change they had wines I had never tried and they had a wine special $4 and $5 dollar glasses which I thought was great so I got to try stuff I normaly would not try. \r I felt like I was at the beach in the middle of east cobb all I needed was the ocean. \r The staff was friendly and egar to please. \r Then after dinner we went next door the the lounge area for after dinner drinks and that was a nice way to end the night we danced till all hours of the night with the DJ. The best part was we only had a short drive home! They have accomplished the Midtown feel but with friendly people. \r I am making this my new weekend place! Took my wife on a date-night, we wanted to try out this place as it's pretty close to home.\r \r Food was good, a couple shining stars on the menu of also a lot of very generic stuff.\r \r Not a good date restaurant though - don't expect a quiet intimate environment. The main room is the wooden enclosed porch and was very very loud. Not that the other parties were raucous, but the lack of any sound deadening materials was very noticeable. The chairs and tables are patio furniture, and for average height individuals the tables seemed too high relative to the seating height.\r \r It'd be a fine place for kicking back with a bunch of friends ready to enjoy loud conversation and laughter. It is not, however, a place to take anyone you want to talk with.\r more
